When does the club and coaching staff start having a serious discussion about pissing him off a year early?
Yes, last week was his best indiviudal game of the season but it didn't take him long to go back to incoonsistency. Is there a half with less situational awareness, less game awareness or less vision than this bloke? Youre basically paying him $1 million to defend and run. He kills half chances with lack of vision.. he has no awareness at all of whats needed in game situaions . 3 on 1 he'll hold the ball and run ... numbers stripped off a break down the sidleine he'll play short to Hopgood..
Oh we've wrestled back momentum ? sweet i'll chase a kick recklessly with no idea when its coming down? My team gassed 2 mins from half time.. oh they need a bomb to go 20 metres and come down on the 30. Tapine waving his right arm looking to offload... oh shit i better grab the back of his jersey, He's deadset brain dead. Theres obvious athleticism and when he's at his best like last week he has a competiveness in his game that makes him a good footballer... BUT those days are few and far between. We've had about 10 of them since 2022 and hes hurting the kids around him. Just an absolute drain on the club and I can't wait to see the back of him. He's obviously got no long term future at the club but I think hes being paid a million to be the poster child of inconsistecy at out club and we need to be a smarter football team.

Completely agree. What's sadder is he's our best 5/8 at our club by a mile.
Papali'i would be worse at the moment. Put him with Hawkins, his defence is not up to scratch yet either. If Moses was playing 7, then yeah give Papali'i a try which i think Ryles is leaning towards by him moving to 6 in Cup. But at this stage definately not.
Brown had 1-2 good tackles tonight but his defence is way off from where it usually is. He was the best defensive half in the comp by a mile. Now not even top 5.
Then have Matterson at 6, if he stays injury free. He's played 6 before. A couple of weeks in Res grade to get back into it and he can play there again. Plus it gets him on the field. More experience isn't a bad thing
Seraph i would actually have Walker there is anything. Though Walker's job is to work as that link man, Matterson can do that at 13.
Walker is a better fit at 6 than Matto.
Yes, like this.
💯 HKF
If anyone still thinks DB is a no.6 has rocks in their head. The guy goes missing every set, has poor kicking, doesn't even talk and zero game management. He is a dead set centre fooling everyone he's a 'running 5/8'. Yeah sure he has his one run a game.
Drop Penisini or Russell, both have been terrible and put DB there. Give the no.6 to Walker or Papalii or even Volkman. At least they'll want to touch the ball every set and will probably bring more creativity to the halves.
Why would anyone else playing 6 make a difference if we are just playing them left and right.Whoever replaces him just sits there and waits till it's his turn to have the ball we just do the same with another person with his name on the jersey.
We have to look deeper if we want more from certain players we either have to create a structure for that to happen or we give them license to go follow the ball.Parra don't have either hence why he disappears like he DB does. What makes you think the same won't happen to the next guy.
The answer lies in what we were doing last week against the Dragons using Hopgood Paulo Walker to facilitate to DB so he has more time and has a run pass kick option.
Why not just have DB play both sides of the ruck how farken hard is this concept to understand.Everyone continues to say he disappears but yet he's parked on the left side and they go right then what.It can't be this hard and go figure when he did go right he scored.I really don't get why firstly we don't have our halves both of them connected and playing to one another. If you don't want him to disappear force feed him or get him playing both sides it's real easy but for some reason we don't do it.
He doesn't do it enough is the question why in the 2nd half were we always playing to Hawkins and why is it always we are chopping and changing combinations around DB.
Whose responsible depends how there structurally made up with the ball.Does DB have a roving commission I don't no I'd suggest not.Are there tips when he can play both sides it feels like only inside the attack zone.
I bet you next year we'll see a different player at Newcastle I'll put money on it when they get a settled combinations around him.
Flaws why is it he's a different player when he puts the kiwis jumper on but the last few years here we see these flaws has the player changed that much I don't think so.
Yet giving Volkman Papali'i Matto are better options if that were the case JR is the issue then isn't he.DB should have been dropped moved somewhere else.
Because it's easey to shine in a team that dominates. Dylan as the most experienced player in the spine by a long way knows he should be the conductor. Pop up where and when he thinks he can offer something.
Problem is Dylan's to DUMB to read a game or think 2 plays ahead. Realy his a of the cuff ball runner.
I don't gamble Coryn otherwise I'd take ya money quick on how Dylan goes at the Castle. He'll be alright while Pongas on the paddock, but having to lead with him out Dylan will fail. As I said years ago good centre playing in the six relying on the seven.
