Double Standards

Watching the game on FOX last night and couldn't believe the commentators going off about Mitch Allgoods punch, saying he should be sent off. Obviously they now have forgotten it was basically a repeat of paul gallen, but when gallen does it its ok and inspirational. I also remember a few rounds ago Allgood getting smashed with a king hit and having to fight off 2 or three players at once and the commentators were not as 'appalled' as they were last night.

Has anyone else noticed this??

  • to be fair the commentators were blowing up about how allgood got belted and how wallace had taken a dive to start it!

but i dont see the difference between the two incidents!! except allgood got sent off both occasions!

  • Allgood should of been sent off for both the swinging arm and the punch the joke was how long it took the refs to make a decision
    • you can swing an arm as long as you don't hit high - he hit him
      in the midriff.
  • PM Gillard ushered in a time of political correctness unseen before. It's now naughty to think that a footy player smashing a grub and serial pest is a good thing.
  • Yeh worse thing is when Allgood god smashed he was being held by other Brisbane players whilst being defenceless. Now that was a terrible look. I wanted to jump the fence and come in swinging that night because to me that is really DOG. Matai came running from a minimum of 20metre looking for trouble. Guess what he got it. But at least it was 1 on 1 and no one was holding him back to be smashed with no defence.

Allgood will miss at least 2 weeks. Would not surprise me if they over react and go 4 weeks as it did follow a swinging arm from himself.

P.s. this year I have started muting commentators. They are just not worth all the rage they cause me at the moment.

  • Yeah the commentators shit me and the fools on the Matty johns show r just as bad or worse Tallis was sooking saying its not state if origin he should get 4 or 5 weeks. How does it make a difference that its not state of origin gallen got 1 week McGuire got none when he did the same to allgood. The precedent has been set he should get off with his good record. Loved seeing matai get belted go Mitch
  • Allgood has just been charged with a grade 3 striking charge what am absolute joke Parramatta always cop the rough end of the stick how is Allgoods any worse then Gallens? Gal only got a grade 2. Just like in last nights game the refs wouldn't penalize manly but they blow the whistle against us every chance they got it was evident in our 1st set of the match I think it was about the 4th or 5th they held us down for ever but no penalty
  • Its a joke! I got no issues if Allgood received 2-3 matches,IF Gallen and Mcquire also got this.Allgoods punch was no worse than Gallen(1 week) ,or Mcquires (0 weeks). The inconsistancey is laughable.
