Dogs on the prowl for Haas

NRL 360 co-host Paul Kent and Channel 9 staff are quoted as confirming that Payne Haas and his management team have met with the Bulldogs, including Phil Gould, for talks around making a move to the club alongside best friend Tevita Pangai Jnr in 2024.

Gus on Channel 9 confirmed that he doesn’t think Haas is worth $1M a season. It could be a tactical move his manager and/or Phil Gould, with sources at Nine News saying he has not reached out to any other club.

  • He's off to the Roosters.

  • They cant even afford Mahoney.....yet.

    • I hope someone at the eels is having a quite word with Reed

      Never to late

  • I love how Gould's cap never gets queried .

  • Kikau has signed for 800k a year. Then there's the additional 400k per year in this party deals.

  • You see people may say oh well they will sign Haas on like 600k and the rest is TPA's, only way the NRL would register his deal is if he is paid minimum 800k. NRL are super strict on players being paid to their value or close to it. Haas's value at the moment surely would be around 850-900k being an international prop at his age.

Can Canterbury afford him? well not if they are fielding the rest of their squad with juniors as they have to cut even more to get him, it is ridiculous. Focus on getting a Halfback to go with your unregistered hooker first then get other forwards.

    • Are they though? How do we even know. Are player payments public? We hear all the time about players taking 'unders'

      • But unders as in say Moses taking 800k not 900-950k

But taking 550-600 would be seen way below market value, if that makes sense.

So for Haas i think 700 would be the minimum, hell 500k is too much for Canterbury.

  • The NRL sucks. How could they allow Hass to (let's speculate) be signed for on books $600K whern his market value is $800K - $1million. How about deeming his true value. The whole TPA system and sombrero caps for some just sucks.

    • The NRL implemented a system that allowed NAS to escape any suspension for his hit on the Mak's head.

They are officially amateurish (or very professional if you accept that they have to favour Storm).
