Reading online Canterbury fans explaining to the hundreds of queries about their cap that they moved 15 players on this year and that's how they can afford to buy big. None of them understand my point that you need to still replace 15 players and releasing 15 players on a combined 5 million doesn't allow you to then just buy 8 players for 5 million and call it a day.
Absolute joke that the NRL registered contracts knowing that it put a team over the cap and in the need to break a players contract to become cap compliant. That is before any bonuses for junior players which would add further stress on their cap.
You can guarantee if the eels or tigers tried this, there would be an uproar. The NRL and media have there favourites and report accordingly

Spot on FM! How does the nrl allow these contracts to be ratified knowing they are in such a precarious cap posi?
Those figures don't include Reed. So taking into account Reed it's approx 500k for 7 spots. Somethung go to give and then they properly have to pay freight on whoever they let go as well.
Even with all their signings the team for 2023 looks very unbalanced. So much money on rocks and diamonds forwards. Kikau and TPJ in the one team is hilarious. And it's such a top heavy roster they're going to be pumped full of nuffies to fill out their squad. Teams with awesome systems and a core that's been together for years can get away with this (eg Storm), but the wooden spooners? Ooooff.
Reed what are you thinking? You career is going to tank. From the cusp of State of Origin and a Top 6 team to the bottom of the barrel. For a hundred grand? It'll wipe that much off your next contract not to mention missing out on rep duties and the $$ that goes with it.
Also Capt. He could have got more in 2 years from the EELS after playing rep. So the 3rd and 4th year of his Bulldogs contract could potentially had been less then what we may have gone up to in 2 years.
So he may be lossing out even before his next contract is due, thats unless they upgrade.
In saying that i would think he may still get rep duties in next couple years, time will tell how he goes over there,
"The issue what your finding here with the constant TOer is continually swapping out combinations. You can't compete that way we've got to keep these guys together for as long as possible.I mean right now if true not only are you losing Pezet in 27…"
"Unfortunately you can't fix stupid and bored - two attributes these destabilizing morons have in spades.
We only have to look at the Tigers if we want a reminder of what happens when you let power hungry, unintelligent and inexperienced people run…"
"I can only guess that The bears offered somewhere around 550k, and we didn't want to get into a bidding war for a player who is replaceable. Russell doesn't have good athletic ability for an outside back, and our for and against suffered for it in…"

Sounds to me like the dogs are sick of failing and are going all in for the premiership.
Win at all costs.

Actually min for Bottom 4 @80k and next 3 @ 120k equals 600k. Only just over and a year to offload someone they can do this easily.
Bugger.
I don't know if they are still paying players to play elsewhere I see those numbers have been left out if any.
When the dogs signed JAC the talk was it was 800k per year to play fullback, now it's 550k to play wing. Most of the figures reported are never right.
