It was grade 2 so normally a suspension but I read this online
In 2022, the NRL changed the judicial process for representative matches. It means players can only receive bans for offences that are grade three or higher.” Via @foxleague // #blokeinabar

Yeah no one really gets bans from origin now. Suaalii's was a special case cos it was deemed reckless since he launched himself and left the ground.
A grade two charge would ordinarily have seen Ponga banned for two games in the NRL, but a change to the judicial code in rep games means the superstar fullback only has to pay 23 per cent of his match fee with an early guilty plea.
if Ponga had did this in round 11 against the Titans he would have missed 2 weeks (Origin and Parramatta).
And yet he didn't talk to Matty for months for doing that same thing. All Matty did was praise QLD and their team and Matty refused to talk to him for a long time time.
"This might be unpopular but whilst strange was good, he was largely ineffective until the game opened up when Ponga went off. Moses takes pressure off Cleary with his kicking game. You can't afford to only have one kicker in origin. Strange's…"
"Hilarious that this was a fine only.
Some players simply can't get suspended no matter how hard they try.
By Klein standard (which he's set over many years of Origin) this was a sendoff - he's done it multiple times before. By how fans WANT Origin…"

Yeah i remember that.
Its true ponga grade 2. Only a fine
Don't forget Johns had Newcastle’s intrests first when making comment on the tackle. If it was another player he would have shut his mouth
Great point Chief. Same with Matty yesterday morning saying he was sure Dylan Lucas would come onto the bench.
