24 hours ago, I was so hopeful. I seriously thought we could push for a finals spot and be a serious darkhorse.
I didn't think we'd beat Melbourne, but I thought we would put up a very good fight and come away with positives despite the loss. After the first 10 minutes, I was as hopeful as ever, which was mainly due to that Sean Russell try with 12 men. That was short lived.
Players like Ryley Smith, Pezet, Simmonsson, Jack Williams, even Brian Kelly I was very excited to see. These players (apart from Kelly) had strong seasons last year and I couldn't wait to see how they developed. I know it's early days, but they all seemed to have gone backwards, especially Ryley who was virtually a speed bump.
with that said, do we have any hope for 2026. I know it's early days but that is not a performance you put in the back of the mind. It was one that exposed so many issues.
However, it would not surprise me in the slightest for us to come away with a win next week, and we are all back on the Bandwagon

There's no instant gratification fixes happening here we have to grind out improvement and take the rocks along the way Thursday was a set back but hopefully that's out of our system and we can move on.The only time you get a hiding like that is when you gift possession field position and errors which we did it all.Sinbins didn't help but we managed to bundle this all up into this game with a big red ribbon on top and Melbourne took full advantage and we were summarily embarrassed.
Since this is hopefully out of our system it's business as usual back to the grindstone and go again.
Im not going to sack them based on one game and Rd1 at that , it could very well be the knock back down the Earth that they need after the hype from a good pre season . Sh 1t happens without explanation ..... a horse runs a bad race then comes out and wins next start and goes on for a good campaign , i bowl one sh1t over playing cricket then wander down to fine leg then come back and bowl a good decent spell .
I think expectations of winning a premiership are unrealistic however i believe a push for 7th / 8th spot is plausiable .
