24 hours ago, I was so hopeful. I seriously thought we could push for a finals spot and be a serious darkhorse.
I didn't think we'd beat Melbourne, but I thought we would put up a very good fight and come away with positives despite the loss. After the first 10 minutes, I was as hopeful as ever, which was mainly due to that Sean Russell try with 12 men. That was short lived.
Players like Ryley Smith, Pezet, Simmonsson, Jack Williams, even Brian Kelly I was very excited to see. These players (apart from Kelly) had strong seasons last year and I couldn't wait to see how they developed. I know it's early days, but they all seemed to have gone backwards, especially Ryley who was virtually a speed bump.
with that said, do we have any hope for 2026. I know it's early days but that is not a performance you put in the back of the mind. It was one that exposed so many issues.
However, it would not surprise me in the slightest for us to come away with a win next week, and we are all back on the Bandwagon

I mean we all at some point knock a Prime Minister, nobody here have even been in an election or close to being in parliament nonetheless be PM, so are we not allowed to criticise what he does since he has been PM longer than any of us have.

Realistically we will never be a team that wins a comp its not in our DNA we will aim to be a top 8 team maybe at some pointba bit of luck leads us to a GF every few years but we are a make up the numbers club always have been always will be.
So our goal of top 8 competive footy is still alive just with lower expectations i guess.
While the Eels looked absolutely hopeless, it only cost us 2 points and some embarrassment. We will improve enough to make the eight. I doubt very much we have the players to be playing finals four footy. What we do have is a good coach and 5 or 6 good juniors coming through. So we're heading in the right direction. Might take some time.
I still have hope we can sneak into the 8, but nothing more.
