Does anyone have hope for the rest of the season?

24 hours ago, I was so hopeful. I seriously thought we could push for a finals spot and be a serious darkhorse.

I didn't think we'd beat Melbourne, but I thought we would put up a very good fight and come away with positives despite the loss. After the first 10 minutes, I was as hopeful as ever, which was mainly due to that Sean Russell try with 12 men. That was short lived.

Players like Ryley Smith, Pezet, Simmonsson, Jack Williams, even Brian Kelly I was very excited to see. These players (apart from Kelly) had strong seasons last year and I couldn't wait to see how they developed. I know it's early days, but they all seemed to have gone backwards, especially Ryley who was virtually a speed bump.

with that said, do we have any hope for 2026. I know it's early days but that is not a performance you put in the back of the mind. It was one that exposed so many issues.

However, it would not surprise me in the slightest for us to come away with a win next week, and we are all back on the Bandwagon

  • I still have hope we can sneak into the 8, but nothing more.

    • Well don't feel to bad now 1 minute to go warriors leading chooks 40 to 18 😂

  • look what happened to roosters when warriors had heaps of possession and penalty count.

  • Nada

  • Nah it's over. We don't have the ticker. Very disappointing. I thought ryles had fixed this, obviously he has not. So maybe Ryles isn't the guy and he needs to be moved on instead of wasting more time with him.

  • Our goal is to make the 8, winning the whole competition is just way above our current talent level but I think making the 8 is still do able.

  • Nothing we could do, this six agains rule has ruined the flow of contest. Is just seems like who ever can get the most six agains the more dominant the opposition will be throughout that whole game. Trust me this game was finished as soon as they gave calls away for free.

  • Nah not really

  • Depends on how you had grounded your hope.

If you had hoped for a Premiership this season, then yes you should lose hope.

If you had hoped for a Top 8 finish (realistically either 7th or 8th) then it's much too early to lose hope however we have definitely made it hard for ourselves with the blowout score given F/A usually separates the middle teams in the table.

Getting blown out of the water like that always hurts, having it as the first game of the season definitely stings just that little more. All of the hype for footy season starting gets dashed in 80 minutes and it definitely brings you back down to earth pretty darn quickly.
