After watching yesterdays performance it was actually terrifying how bad our defence was. I know we won the second half but geez it makes me angry as an eels fan to start the year off like this. what went wrong ? even with a depleted side we shouldnt be conceeding 50 points. It will be interesting to see how we go against the tigers. If we lose against them I am happy to write us off for the 8.
Whats your thoughts ??

Christ, mate, it's only round one. We had a few of our top players out and youngsters who'd never played First Grade. I'm giving it until rd 10 before I make my mind up.
Totally agree Parramaniac -It's round 1. Not panic stations yet! There were 8 other teams that lost as well..New coaches - injuries - our best player out and general kicker.. Let's not get carried away ..
We won't make the 8 mate, but don't panic. Ryles is going to need some time to re-build the underlying weak culture within our club. He is delivering a much needed and overdue culture shake up.
As a fan, it's important to have realistic expectations for 2025 and accept that it's going to be a tough year. However, I'm hopeful we will be on the rise from 2026 and onwards.
Good call. It is a big job and seems the board are happy to let him do what he needs to do.
All depends on injuries and how the players adopt the Jr era.
I mean not saying we go this far, but Souths made the GF in 2021 having 50 put on them twice. Melbourne are the best team in the comp and quite frankly going to win i believe. So let's see how we go next week before overly panicking.
Match yesterday's players to any team if the curse doesn't end spoon
Not based on yesteryday's peformance.
Our best were our full back who had only played 1 game of NRL prior and our hooker who was making his 1st grade debut.
Hopgood had a go as well and he will only get better with more game time due to missing a large junk of 2024.
A pass/success mark for this season would be finishing 8th to 10th. Whether we scrape into the 8 or not is probably immaterial - early signs are saying there will be a top 4 that will be well above the rest.
The Storm looked elite. The Panthers keep on Panthering. The Broncos looked the goods. And Manly looked powerful. Obviously injuries play a big part, but I don't see the bottom half of the 8 doing anything other than making up the numbers.
If I had to make a bet on it I think we'll run about 10th or 12th if we don't get decimated with bad luck/injuries. This is a rebuild and reset year.
I'm not tipping us against the Tigers.
