Dirty Dogs

So it's being reported that all eyes are on Canterbury and the Josh Jackson retirement as they're moving him straight into another role .
Read that they have to still shed more cap space even after Jackson's retirement to be compliant .  It just didn't add up when they were signing every Tom , Dick and Harry over the past two seasons .  Apparently there's an NRL investigation into the Jackson retirement pending.

Imagine if Reeds deal fell through , I reckon clubs that don't have enough cap space should have to have their offers to players ticked off by the NRL before being able to make the offer to players .  Why should clubs be able to compete with another club by lodging offers they can't afford ?  It only encourages dodgy shit like we are seeing here from Canterbury . What if they can't shed the cap space ?  We've lost a player we could've kept and Reed Will end up signing for The Dolphins or some other club that wasn't in the mix when he signed with Canterbury .

  • The fact Reed knew exactly his contract had yet to be approved by the NRL and still chose to stay with the dogs should raise a few queries. Either he's a dope of the biggest magnitude or he's signed a massive contract, I'm talking around 700k

  • The Jackson retirement is dodgy as. He's only 31 or something and played every game last year. You telling  me he he couldn't get a gig at another NRL side or in the Super League for good coin if he was unwanted at the Dogs? There would have to be a very compelling reason for him to retire and the promise of a paid role. Now if he's been told to retire and Instead offered a paid gig at the club as an inducement my understanding is that is a breach of the rules.

There's some fucken shenanigans going on at the Dogs and has been since ol Gus arrived

    • Mate that's exactly what's happened if anyone thinks otherwise they're fools.

      • Gus is a shrewd operator he knows his best chance of getting the Jackson retirement approved by the NRL is to make it about the players not the club. This would have been in the pipeline for 12 months but he makes the high profile signings first and then says to the NRL if you don't approve this we can't fulfill our contractual promises to these players

  • Gus can do what he wants. The investigation will go nowhere.
