Did Sandows comment make refs hate us?

Not sure how else we get penalized so much for doing so little wrong.Don't get me wrong we played really crap but the stupid penalty count in the first 25min was out of control. Surely Sandows disrespect plays on the refs minds.

  • The refs have been screwing us over long before Chrissy's comments, a 5 nil penalty count and 20% of the ball after 20 odd minutes will cripple any side.   It's amazing all those square up penalties that are given once you have chewed up all your petrol.  That said we were disgraceful last night and there is no excuse for just giving up.

    • X2 Alan. Any team will struggle with a 9-2 penalty count and 20% of possession but we were horrendous in defence in the first half.
    • Ye u nailed it Alan. How about farahs comments about Shane hayne. They will never get another penalty off him after his comments.
    • Agree Alan   Good points

  • Its funny I was only thinking this myself. Before Sandows comment we got no favours now we flat out dont even get any respect
  • Not sure but they certainly did not help as it would of put the refs against us as the NRL didn't do any thing about how he spoke to the refs.

  • We consistently lose the penalty count early in the game. It puts us right behind the 8 ball because invariably 5 or 6 penalties means a couple of tries at least. We then get squareup penalties when the games over. Not sure what the reason is
  • Super what your saying is lets blame the knife when some lunatic stabs somebody to death 9 times.

Its always the ref isnt it with people on here, every year its the refs fault, even when we get pumped 48-0 yes the ref always has a hand in it.

He never has a hand in it when we win, no you dont here about him then.

    Honestly its just ridiculous.

  • The bigger question is why our discipline is so poor. We give away so many stupid penalties by lying in the tackle too long.
Back in 2005 Hindy and Morrison were fantastic at knowing how long they could hold a player for. They prevented quick play the balls but didn't give away penalties.
We can blame the refs but it seems we may well be our own worst enemy.
  • Amazing how the Storm did not get the usual favours in the penalty count last night and lost. Penalties are crucial in the modern game. BA said he brought it up with the officials before the game and will bring it up again.
