  • I didn't notice Joash being particularly targeted but he was busy. My main concern at the moment with Joash is his lack of experience at 5/8. I appreciate JR's approach at trusting young guys to work themselves out. But I think it suits Joash more to be playing reserve grade to understand the nuances of halves play. He needs to be better at reading defences, counting numbers and playing direct. Someone should sit him down and get him to watch Foran. He's the most direct half I've ever seen and in today's game it should be easier to do as backrowers don't light up the halves like they used to.

I think Hawkins starting at 6 gives us another kicker but also provides for a little more control.

    • Agree, Super.

I like Little Pap. He offers versality & energy. He's worth holding on to & developing. But Hawkins offers more at six. Right now.

Hawkins had improved his running game & is more direct. He's even making tackle busts. He's got decent footy nous & short attacking kicking game. Despite being a calm head, he also has displays of passion which I like. He's been a bit of a surprise packet. Gut feel, he needs a bit more confidence.

Other options are more disruptive. Iongi at six. Little Pap at one. Or Walker at six, but that would weaken the great job he's doing buttressing the middle. Not sure if Jayden Campbell is on our radar, but he'd provide x-factor.

  • I'd keep him at 5/8th, he has that X factor about him, very quick, great foot work, he will get better with more games under he's belt

also hopefully Richard penisini gets a run this week, brown is not a centre, Also it might make Will P start playing better with he's brother there.

    • Will has been playing pretty well since he's come back from suspension. Richie wouldn't be a bad shout as with Bailey moving on we'll need another centre.

  • He played against a reserve grade team.

    • I was worried he wouldn't hold up defending but he's been good there at 6. It's the attack he's struggled with so weird

      • Yes! it's a great defensive effort  regardless. Plenty of other players had misses.

he just needs some exp practise in role in reserves.

        • That's why I don't like stats, the stats here make such little sense when our defense was the weak link in our game. Line speed was poor and I suspect that Joash did a lot of tidying up at the back, but I would have preferred to see 3 missed tackles and two tries backing up some of the 9 tackle breaks we made.
