I am starting to think we have the dumbest supporters on here .... watched they way we  manouvre and undermine any failures.

The relentless criticism and then the undermining of the coach, front office etc indicates some people cannot just understand the current problems.

Players were pretty pathetic today and I honestly think with the injuries and dislocation of being maimed that we will be lucky to win another game this season......Can we fix it, I doubt it, it is not an actual lack of effort it is more a lack of ability.

We have two backs with any pace and real class, both obviously carried injuries, you  all being such determined critics out there realising Moses could not run, or place kick. JAC's ribs are so heavily strapped he had problems breathing. Joash Pappilli tried hard, never dropped a high ball but had no support, Penisini has come back early from injury, Kelly is just a pathetic mess from a once competent player, Volkman was honest and the debut winger also honest. Realistically both Volkman and the new kid are not first graders. You can use players like that in one off's but not as regular first graders. It really was a non existent backline and the length of field tries that were put on us reflects that.

Our forwards I cannot defend them, but I do know that you only need one or two key defensive players out and you are buggered. If your backs cannot carry out defence, then the forwards will always be run ragged.....tell me you understand this?

See  I can defend my team, why cannot you at least attempt to understand our situation. Last year Souths had similar problems, their supporters  stuck with them, we don't have the talent that they have, it will be interesting to see if we keep our new St George players after he watches and see's this result but no we will blame MON for losing him and anyone else that wants to come.

NB Anyone that wants to sack the coach is a non thinking moron, he can only work with what he has and I am sure he is trying as hard as he can to come up with a side to play canterbury next week.....good luck with that one Jason. I don't envy your attempting to make something out of a club like Parra, but we stalwarts will support you.

Final point rather than being perenial pessitmists laced with disloyalty, try coming up with some solution's and commitments to support the coaching staff through this period of "seeming disaster"  without coming with your fantasy solutions.

    • You know what LB. I envisaged your answer.....you just cannot get it out of your head can you. Don't worry the rent is still free!

PS Guess what, its not your role to accept your loss 52=10 at home to the Gold Coast, the great part of being a teacher like you LB is that no original thought is required......

      • Tell me, is what i said wrong? as you did do that and then deleted it. You said those who say sack Ryles are non thinking morons, yet you did that this time last year. Am i wrong?

Not saying Ryles should be sacked, just you are being hypocritcal

      • Poppa you constantly remark my age and occupation and comment on majority of my comments on blogs that you didn't create. I think someone who has an obsession on what another is doing or saying is you.

  • Ryles is not the problem. He is simply hamstrung by the idiots who give him the legless cattle we pay pretty much the same % of salary cap for as Penrith etc pay for their squad.

Not sure what's happening with some of the players. Their performance seems to have fallen off a cliff. Second year syndrome?

    • When the opposition is putting 40+ on the team every week, I say it's more the coaching staff is the issue. The structure and system put in place isnt working. Fitness and conditioning is the biggest eye openers this season. Oppositions are running harder, hitting harder and have more energy. Our line speed is nonexistent. We lose the ruck every time. Our players are getting gassed easily, from Guymer, Jr to our back rowers and TDS. This is a direct result of poor defence and decision making when constantly under fatigue.

Yes the game has sped up, so the coaching needs to change. Even the recruitment need to change. It's time to identify athletes with a higher ceiling. Testing and biometrics needs to be part of the recruitment process. This has been part of professional sports around the world like the NFL for years. You find those athletes and everything else can be coached.

Recruiting Nathan Brown and Sam Moa is on Ryles. The club need to spend big on support for Ryles, target the best fitness and conditioning team, go get the best defence coach. Focusing on recruiting superstars that comes off contract isnt the answer. Unfortunately the glamour clubs will always beat us to the punch.

      • Agree

        • I agree that you agree.

    • I thionk you need to qualify the idiots and then their replacements Badge, but we all know where you are coming from.

Simply Hamstrung implies something, I am just no sure how simple it is.

  • Last year Souths had similar problems, their supporters stuck with them, we don't have the talent that they have

Pops you nailed it in this sentence right here (bold is my emphasis).

We are in a salary cap constrained sport. Our Top 30 squad is worth the same as every other Top 30 squad. Our squad is sub par, both our top line squad and our top 30 depth. We can't just keep thinking of excuses that are out of our control, that's not how winners win. So we have injuries, that's why you have a 30 man roster. Injuries didn't force us to sign us Pezet and Kelly and JDB. We chose to do that.

The fact is our talent is sub par, and that is OUR fault, no one else's.

BTW, that ravaged Rabbitohs squad from last year still managed to beat us.

    • Souths only had 50 on them twice last year, one from Dolphins who were close to the 8 and Brisbane the premiers and both away. We had 52 put on us but one of the worst teams in the comp at home. Yeah injuries have weakened us massively but nothing excuses that. Our defence was a concern before this.

With Kautoga getting hooked, Ryles seems to think it is not an excuse either.
