I'm a hairs breath away from deciding to turn on Dylan Brown.
I am quite literally hating this saga. We are told to get behind the new Eels, the new coach, the new style. Onwards and upwards, yada yada yada.
How do we do that when we are told certain players have signed long term so get behind them and support them, etc only for options and get out clauses every other year.
So Dylan wants to explore all his options prior to making an informed decision. What a nice piece of bullshit. Just come out and say it. Dylan wants as much cash as possible, we are using other clubs and codes to boost his $$ up so he can get more cash. If the Eels can match it, well and good, if they cant then Dylan will be playing elsewhere next year.
mmmmm Like I said, im a hairs breath from going all in with the Dylan hate, and i dont really want to. But if we are a getting an up yours from him and his management, publicly displayed over and over, then, as a supporter, fan of the Eels, I feel an up yours is due right back at them.
Hurry up and sort this shit out, so I for one can enjoy the buildup to our new season, and the many wins this year.
You do realise if he gets extra $$ from us the previous contract would be null and void and he would just be on a standard contract so in reality we won't have the PO drama but will have normal contract process which is not much different
and Its a lot different, it gives certainty to our roster, it gives certainty to the $$ amount when budgeting, it gives certainty in regards to juniors staying or going for greener pastures.
We have lost Sanders and Blaize, by all accounts they have talent in the halves. Would they have stayed if they knew Dylans contract was up so to speak right now, that does annoy the hell out of me.
All of this is just making it hard to get onto the Dylan Bus for 2025 and onwards, like I said, I for one are very close to jumping off his bus, solely due to the disrespect to the club and fans with the way it has been played in the public domain and the potential to harm our season before its even started.
I do wonder how you trust the player beside you that declares im all in and im buying into our season whilst Im publicly declaring that I'll play anywhere in 2026 as long as the $$ increases. Bloody hard i think.
I am with you here BE. But it seems, with this new breed of players, they do not value loyalty and love for the team. Their and their managers priorities are to get more money, throwing away and disregarding the time, and effort the club have given them through years developing abd caring for the. When they are still nobody.
Sanders/Talagi would've had to wait another year for Drown/Moses to finish their contracts. They would've spent 2025 as backups and they didn't want to.
Yeh I'm right there with you. Never excuse the player for his manager's behaviour. Dylan would have known what Orr was about to do and he was ok with it. This is a HUGE cultural problem. I get that Orr wants to maximise his client's pay. But if Orr and Brown had a team first /club first mentality they could have assessed interest in Dylan like a professional agent would. Made direct contact with the right person at each club and guaged interest. He would have learned very quickly what the lay-of-the-land was. Instead he sends a group email to every single club in the NRL (btw the Eels also received the email. FMD) as well as the ARU, broadcasting to the planet that Dylan Brown is willing to play elsewhere. The lack of professionalism is astounding. Orr can now try and go into damage control all he likes. No matter how many times he says his client is happy at Parramatta and doesn't want to leave, I'm not buying it. No matter how many times he says he's doing the Eels a favour by doing all this in pre-season and not during the season, I'm not buying it. Orr and Brown have indicated very strongly that Brown is willing to leave the Eels for a higher bidder. It is precisely the opposite of the culture Ryles is trying to establish. Dylan, either sign your option or a new Eels deal quicksmart or hit the road champ. The days of players holding the club to ransom need to be over now!!
Yes the email was unprofessional but let's not overreact here. Browns not able to hold the club to ransom if he wants more money we don't have to pay it. Forget about the options etc they were just window dressing he signed a contract for what's probably now unders on the market especially with clubs like the roosters on the lookout for a half. Hes entitled to have a look before renegotiating or signing

There's a big difference between: 1) A discreet phone call between manager and club to guage interest IF (that is IF) Dylan was available. 2) An email blast to 17 clubs + ARU which says, “Please revert back to Gavin and I on email to register your clubs interest in securing the services of Dylan Brown for season 2026 and beyond. Once we finalise the level of interest, we will work with you to set up an appropriate time to catch up with Dylan. These type of “Franchise Players” dont come on the market very often".
Number 1 is doing your due diligence. Number 2 is Orr and Brown publicising that Dylan is willing to leave the Eels and is actively seeking offers. There's a HUGE difference!! Culturally what Orr and Brown have done is damaging. It diminishes our club and our new Coach who is trying to create a club first culture.

Hmmmm ...nothing much really said here. I'm not sure what Ryan expected Orr to say when he led him about Brown's options.
Uncle Nick and his latte comment would be minutely funny if it wasn't probably true.
