DAVE Taylor's $1.6 million deal with the Gold Coast is in danger of collapsing as the ARL Commission dithers over the future of the financially stricken Titans. With the Titans fighting for survival amid debts of more than $25 million, Test and Queensland forward Taylor will not formally sign his four-year contract until the ARLC assures him of Gold Coast's future. The Titans announced Taylor's signing on March 19, but the Rabbitohs have not given up hope of retaining him despite signing Broncos utility Ben Te'o to a three-year deal yesterday.Under NRL rules, Taylor's Titans deal cannot be registered until round 13, which gives the Rabbitohs a month to reach a fresh agreement.Taylor's manager Col Davis has contacted ARLC salary cap auditor Ian Schubert to clarify the Titans' future beyond this season.ARLC boss David Gallop has guaranteed payments to Titans players for this season, but the code's governors have yet to provide a firm fiscal commitment from next year, when Taylor is scheduled to join the club. The Taylor camp is concerned the possible demise of the Titans would void existing player contracts. That would leave Taylor's future in the hands of a new consortium that may alter the financial terms of his Gold Coast deal.External auditors have tabled a final report on the Titans' financial woes to Gallop, but the ARLC is giving Gold Coast majority owner Michael Searle every opportunity to save the club.Taylor's preference is to join the Gold Coast to be closer to family. But with the Titans saga likely to drag on for months, Davis said Taylor needed more clarity from the ARLC before he makes a definitive call on his future.More than 40 players in the Titans' NRL and under-20s squads are awaiting announcements on the club's future."We are waiting on the NRL and their findings on the Titans," Davis said."We don't know enough ... everyone is in the dark."http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/dave-taylors-transfer-deal-with-the-gold-coast-titans-in-jeopardy/story-e6frexnr-1226345158026

  • Are we any chance?
I know he wants to be in QLD? Could the Broncos squeeze him in? With Beale, Te'o gone and is Petero retiring?
  • Can parra at least get in his ear and try to convince him to stay in nsw?.

  • We'll take Reed, Yow Yeh and Gillette off their hands to help them make room.

  • Forgot about signing anyone with first grade experience. Honestly who would come here a start like this? Unless we do a Storm and offer them a Mercedes E63 and a reliable jet pack.
