Daniel Anderson suffers tragic injury

Former Parramatta Eels head coach Daniel Anderson was left fighting for life on the shore of a Central Coast beach in September of 2022.

A freak bodysurfing accident left the two time NRL grand finalist with a traumatic spinal injury and in cardiac arrest.

Fortunately for Anderson, two off duty paramedics witnessed the incident and immediately began CPR before lifeguards arrived.

He was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital where his rehabilitation began.

Anderson has long been linked with the Eels having been involved in coaching and recruitment in the late 1990s and early 2000s before heading to the New Zealand Warriors where he led the club to its first grand final in 2002.

He returned to Parramatta in 2009 following the resignation of Michael Hagan and the side advanced to that year's decider before he was released by the club in late 2010.

He also captured two ESL premierships as head coach of St Helens.

The NRL, in conjunction with the Eels, Roosters (who Anderson works for as head of recruitment), St Helens and the Warriors.

Daniel has also been a supporter of 1 Eyed Eel when he was general manager of football for Parramatta.

  • I hope he makes a full recovery.

    • His win record was actually extraordinary.

    • Coryn, whereabouts did you watch the interview?

      • Full interview will be on Fox with Yvonne Sampson on Face to Face

  • That's really crappy news. How come I am only hearing about this now?

    • He only spoke about it over the weekend and a campaign has been launched called Unite for Daniel

  • That's sad news. He was my maths teacher back in the day and a good guy.

Easy walk over the bridge to the sporting precinct, bit of a walk into the city but not to bad.
