Seriously, 75% of the night so far has been about the NRLW. I am not sexist, i think NRLW is great for the game. But seriously they played what 8 rounds? How are they getting the same media and screen time as the NRL?
Only seen two male presenters also. It is just ridiculous. Same as on the field during prelims they had the Logo's of each club on the field, love that made it feel like a semi. They wont do that for GF due to the NRLW being different teams. So does State Championship get recognition? They are playing on Sunday too and played 27 rounds also.
Added to that was another blog i was going to write. Call me sexist, but i am stating as i see it. Why bother paying the hefty amount to rent out a big stadium like Allianz to play an NRLW match for only 2,000 people to turn up? Why not play at Leichhardt or Campbelltown or Kograh? Just as good and not as much. Is it because the cause is for us to love the NRLW so much to be inclusive that they forfeit money that could be used for juniors in both men and women. I am fine with NRLW GF being at Accor as there is another game on after. Why can't the NRLW be before each semi match? Makes more sense, added they would get a bigger crowd, granted more likely not having their own crowd but a crowd of football fans nonetheless.
The constant bowing and shoving down the throats does my head in. Once they play around 20 games a year then i will have this view. Eventually all 17 clubs will have a team, in 2025 there will be 12 i believe, then i feel they deserve all this as they get more a following. But til then they should be treated like State Championship at this point.

Get used to it LB.
They (government, media, etc) are shoving a heap more shit down our throats everyday but no body seems to care about that so why would they care about the Mickey mouse NRLW comp which has about the same skill level as the u12 boys comp?
It's an absolute farce, you know it, I know it, and I'd say 99% of other fans without painted on eyes know it too but it won't stop it from being force fed to the league fans.
I listened to an old 'Get em' Onside' podcast from 2020. Reason being i have ran out of podcasts to listen to and their older ones have some good discussions in the early portions of each show so i listen to them as i haven't heard them as i only got into the show in around 2021.
Anyway, i digress. Ginnane brought up a women's Origin, NSW apparently with 30 seconds to go scored to make it within 2 points. Instead of declining the kick and running back to halfway, they celebrated like they won the series and missed the kick. Ginnane said simply it was dumb, all they mentioned was how good the game is, but if that was the men they would have been annihilated by the media. He said it straight, do not treat them like they are special needs where everything they do is amazing and it is all hunky dory, no if you want equality you need to be critiqued like men too. He was 100% spot on. He mentioned the women aren't close to quality as men but enjoys the comp and the games.
I admit the game is getting better, the women are now getting exposure to better coaches meaning the quality is getting better, but this rabble i here some people say that certain halves read the game better than some in the NRL, give me a break. The speed of the game is not there to compare. Andrew Johns, bowing to the crowd of wokeness Channel 9 more likely pushed for by including and upping the NRLW, said Brigginshaw reads the game better than most men in the comp. Alright put her in, go on, see how she goes.
Again, sounds like i have issues with women playing sport, not at all. NRLW is wonderful for the game, but i fear this whole cheer squad it garners where everything is amazing, no real negativity with players is bad. Tonight a few of them looked entitled, some even arrogant. Josh Morris helped one women on the stage as she had crutches, didn't even say thank you once on stage. They know they are untouchable and it is a shame, it is a positvie to add some negativity to NRLW, so they know how to improve.
I find it funny how in 2016, Parramatta went through all the salary cap drama, all the shit. Next year Arthur takes Parramatta to fourth with a pretty weak squad across the board, not even considered for Dally M Coach of the Year. When Webster does it though with New Zealand, he gets it🤔
Sorry pal, but I disagree. How would your daughters, sisters, aunties, nieces, grandmothers, female friends feel about your sexest rant. It's great that women are playing rugby league. I'm more upset that the best female player we had went to the raiders.
I don't think LB is being sexist. He's saying that the women should be treated the same as the men. This comp (which is based on sex) is being pushed down the public throat regardless of how many people are interested. If someone is to critique a comp based on sex, it does not necessarily make the argument sexist.
I would estimate the vast majority of women couldn't give a rats about league. Right now, the NRL are pumping up the comp in order to squeeze some extra dollars out of the sponsors while they can, hence the lopsided coverage and hype.
Either the comp picks up momentum and becomes successful or it will fall back to a level that is more financially sustainable.
I think Joe Heath is a yes voter with logic like that.
Well prime example is my mum, had 3 boys (me, brother and dad) all obsessed with footy she had get into a little, she watches on the side and likes the game.
She cannot stand NRLW. My wife doesn't mind the game, never watches NRLW only NRL.
But I agree they are trying to hard. Like the money they are wasting playing them at big stadiums, put that extra money into the women's game in the grass roots, promote it for more girls to play in junior levels, instead of using it to play at Allianz when Ctown is cheaper and more justified. Only reason they played it at Allianz is to make it look better than what it is "oh they are playing at the big stadium, must be good".
Once they have 14-17 teams and play 20 rounds or so, then their fan base will grow more as they play more games, also they play before FG every game then I will start to feel good about it and others will too as it's more exposure and more people watching live as they are there for FG anyway.
I agree LB, having a elite compititon with little to no funding to grass roots to the Jnr female game is not great. How do they expect to have a comp with 17 teams and play 20 rounds...the talent pool is not there. Look at expansion this year...How crap where the eels in NRLW, our team was dessimated because the expansion was too soon. We were grandfinalists last year to the spoon ....like wtf ...
PS wow we sure had a shit year lol
PPS and on another note Womans Tennis lol should I open up a can of whip ass .....
I love women's tennis. Though yes they play 2 less sets or 1 less in straight sets and get same prize money. Though let's be fair have prime Serena Williams take on prime Roger Federer, Fed wins in straight sets with Williams maybe getting a game or two.
Watch the movie 'Battle of the Sexes' with Steve Carell and Emma Stone, about Billy Jean King taking on Bobby Riggs. Wonderful movie though yes BJK beat Riggs, BJK was in her prime and Riggs was long retired so cannot really say that as an example or equality. But still a great movie overall.
I agree, how anyone thought letting Taufa go is a good decision needs their head read.
