It might have been Kerry Packer who once said words to the effect: if you can get more than fifty percent right, you’ll be King of the World. Alas, there could be some Nostradamuses among us.

Will we make the finals and keep improving? What are the markers you're looking at?

For me, ll be looking at how the team play for each other and their resilience as markers of our systems and processes, and there are quite a lot of things that need to go right when it comes to finals footy.

If Mitchell Moses stays on the park, Pezet settles and gels quickly, the rookies hold their form or continue to improve within the rebuilt systems, injuries don’t strike too heavily to key players, and the club can add a bit of yardage muscle to offset the Lomax loss between now and mid-season through the middle or the outside backs, then the Eels can push for the finals. If not, things might get dire on here: with a few nuclear meltdowns. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't start crash hot, and improve in time.

Pezet, while not Dylan Brown, who offers more athletic prowess, brings a developing footy IQ and a louder on-field voice on the left edge, which could work well alongside the Fox’s leadership.

Any off-field scandals or AGM-related distractions, or further noise from the Spags crew, could also create some chaos, though they’ve got next to Buckley’s chance of getting what they want with their latest attack on the club.

If we do make the finals in Ryles’ second season, it would be an outstanding achievement, considering the club was on the brink of wooden spoons in recent years and has since been rebuilt. To rebuild a club, its systems and processes, as well as an NRL squad with a clear vision it something quite to behold.

PS: Ladies and Gentlemen, if I disappear for a few weeks, it's only because we're building and family life is a bit hectic at the moment. Nothing against anyone here, or any disagreements and banter, and I do care about the 1EE community. I'll be popping in to have a peek now and again, and back by the trials. Stay well and enjoy the festive season and holidays with loved ones.

  • Everyone putting to much faith in Pezet atm brown is a big loss hopefully he goes well for the year he is here

  • I don't see the need for another front rower.  We have Paulo, JDB, Hopgood, Tuivati, Williams, Luca, Doory all of who can play in the middle. Yes we do need a couple of decent outside backs, but I don't think Lomax is as great a loss as people think. We need a winger with his workrate, Lomax very rarely bent the line, it was the amount of hit ups he made that made him look good. Lomax also had the highest error count in the NRL, plus he was suspect in defence, he is not irreplaceable. I'm glad we didn't get KK, too much money for a 2nd tier forward. He is not in the same class as Haas, Tino, AFN, JWH or Tapine, let Saints work out he won't make much difference to their team. My predictions, we WILL beat Melbourne rnd 1, we will, barring injuries,, finish top 6.

  • Other than Moses, Paulo and JAC, we have a pretty average squad.

13th-16th but wouldn't be surprised if we battle it out with the Dragons for the spoon.

  • Just missing out on the top 8 by points differential if Moses/JAC/Iongi/Paolo stay fit. If they are out for any extended periods/Origin, then we'll be lucky to end up hovering around 12th.

it just sounds like a lot of things have to align to for the team to be firing well... but who knows

Cant wait til to hear 'how negative my opinion is'

  • A juicy malicious dirtfile laying bare Spags motivations and highlighting his unsuitability for further involvement may be used by some for accurate character assassination ammunition.....just sayin'

  • I realise RCG is no longer at the Titans but have a look at the three teams at the bottom. No issues having gotten rid of RCG, Brown and Gutho. Credit to our recruitment and retention guys for allowing those 3 to leave. The Knights and Dragons are going to be anchored to the bottom of the ladder for years to come.

  • Bottom 5 team. Just don't have the experience in backup players, granted these juniors may be guns but it's a huge ask to backup week in week out, Im guessing Parra start red hot and fizzle out by the end of the season. Injuries will cruel us.

    • Backing that result would pay a lot less than $21....$1.05 is probs fair
