I am amazed by how many stories and articles there were flooding the news on the Eels 2 days ago. Now with no weekend games playing I would have thought the Eels would be filling the news...... and now?....... can only hear crickets? Does no one in the media want to explore the alternative possibilities to what the NRL stated with such gusto just a couple of days ago? Where are those stories? Where is the follow up....... maybe no one is leaking the content for these....... Yet!

No....... I mean why is there no one now writing about why the big back flip, did they get any of this wrong, could the 'gang of 5' have more than the NRL has disclosed, is there a bombshell coming, what advise did Greenberg give Seward when asked about TPA's, why does NRL now want details of the report to now be confidential........ is the long standing relationship between Greenberg and Seward (who gave the lions share of evidence) a massive conflict of interest etc, is Greenberg really the right person to be in a position to throw rocks at the glass houses of other clubs based on the long term associations with Seward, his previous ties to merchandising scandals and TG's associations with the Ryan Tandy affair. There is so much that could be written about or at least requires further review beyond the recent trial by media.
Probably because there wasn't a big backfliip - the NRL said 'yeah, ok, we agree to extend your time to respond from end of this week until 3 June'. The effect of which was they don't have to be de-registered by the Souths game. It's nothing to do with the evidence or actual content of the preliminary breach notice. They are back in court tomorrow to see if the court will give another injunction to stop them from being suspended. If the 5 lose tomorrow they are suspended (while they explain to the NRL why they shouldn't be de-registered), if they win then they will definitely not be suspended (while they explain to the NRL why they shouldn't be de-registered). Tomorrow's hearing has nothing to do with what actually happened with TPAs and dodgy deals.
In relation to Seward and Greenberg, I'd say the NRL aren't worried. The reason we know about Seward's call to Greenberg is because it's in the preliminary breach notice. It hasn't been hidden by the NRL.
When asked on NRL 360 if Parramatta could accrue points if the deregistered employees remained with the club, Greenberg replied: “The short answer is no.
Now they can play for points and keep the board intact. Thats a backflip in my definition.
That minor backflip does nothing in the way of us reducing our points penalty. And the points penalty is all that matters. Nothing has changed there. The board getting a stay of execution means little.
