Our forward pack that played against the cows on Friday did not include one player (starting or bench) that played in last years GF. Taking that one step further, virtually all of them were playing reserve grade in 2022.
Maka, Wiremu, Carty, Ogden and Moretti were in Parras reserves whilst Hopgood, Hands and Doorey were in reserves at other clubs.
Wiremu, Carty and Hopgood have been brilliant this year and all 3 really stood up against the cows. Yes the cows had players out as well but still had McLean, Leilua, Granville, Hess and Robson who were regular first graders for them last year.
Credit where it's due to BA on this. Our record of bringing forwards through in recent years has been excellent. Carty has been brilliant this year and he needed to be given injuries and player movements.
Meanwhile the Barrett attack impact has very subtly starting coming to the fore. We are now number 1 as the best attacking team in the league. The passing for Russell's and Sivo's tries was absolutely brilliant.
With Reg due back soon and Lane and others not far behind him we look very well placed to make a run in the 2nd half of the season

Very good summation
Yep if we have everyone back on deck suddenly our bench is a real strength. Could be huge for us.
A bench of Cartwright, Hands, Greig, Ofahenguae
Or Brown, Matterson, Niukore, JA
This year is stronger bench
I'm very curious about this Barrett attack ? How does the Barrett attack differ in style from the attack we had last year when we finished top 4 ?
I've just heard about the Barrett attack a few times on here now and I'm genuinely curious about what I'm missing , is all.
We are No.1 in attack in the competition averaging 24 points a game against a pretty tough draw.
I dont have all the stats but our attack in the opposition 20 looks a lot more threatening then what it did last year where we relied healily on the 5th kick option.
It seems we are scoring more off set plays then kicks. But more so our attack has really kicked off more the last 4-5 rounds.
I've just seen it as we have two halves playing better and we also have a centre that's playing like a real strike centre. I'd like to see the stats pre and post BAs " chat" with Brown.
Im not saying there is or isn't a " Barrett " attack, I'm genuinely curious if we are playing any type of different football or if we simply just have certain players playing better than they did last season. We also have players like Hopgood offloading and creating oportinutes.
You're probably actually right, just bit more maturing of the halves. But its good to finally have some decent attack, instead of the one out hit ups, maybe cause Hands compliments our halves better then Reed did??
Interesting enough for a team that sits 10th on the ladder, we lead in a lot of the keys stats...
Scoring 324
Tries 56
Post Contact Meter 7,138
ARM 23,654
Kick Return Meters 2,398
Offloads 162
2nd in lines breaks at 69.
2nd in all runs 2,492

This to me tells me that we are probably one of the better teams in the comp.
Our dedensives stats are horrible though and up there with some of the worse...
So doesn't that tell you something different than previous years? Barrett doing a lot better than Andrew Johns or Ennis did in their time here. BA is a great coach, he doing a lot better than so of the other coaches that have better rosters. Some games this year we have lost due to the bounce of the ball, we certainly could be higher up the ladder. Some here said our season was over, egg on your face again, Parra are still alive in 2023.
I think it all maybe boils down to good execution. Maybe Barrett is doing some good attacking drills during practice and been pointing their 'mistakes' and when is the right time to move and pass. Just a guess but.
Wiz there have been a number of changes. Moses and Brown are now working on the same side of the ruck together. Much more than they previously did.
They are working the short side play more often. Also they are now moving the ball through the hands to the wingers as opposed to the cut out pass.
