Could Oregon Kaufusi return to the Eels in 25?

The Sharks have reportedly told Oregon Kaufusi he's free to find a new club for next season. Being a former Eels junior and a decent prop I would love the club to pursue this. I don't think he's anywhere near 500K (the deal the sharks got him for 1.5 over 3 years pretty sure) but we could definitely sign him for less than that now that his stock has gone down with how many big boppers the Sharks have.

Would you guys want Oregon back? Personally a yes from me, and I'd add Bunty Afoa to that, we need starch up front. Then I'd be doing everything I could to get Blake Mozer away from the Broncos and Homer and Bart Walters.

  • 100% yes from me

    • Didn't know we turned into the roosters all of a sudden. Sombrero salary cap.
The 10 or so that are officially leaving are on fck all money. To get Afoa, Kaufusi and Brailey, we really need to move on Sivo and Matto or Lane.

  • I think with Matterson staying it's either one or other of Kaufusi and Afoa.

If Matterson was going then yeah get both.

    • Matterson is a class player LB, he has played Origin and could again as a middle.

Putting the other 2 in the same court is akin to Wiz playing for the transgender team at next years Wimbledon.

They are in chess pieces (pawns) compared to Matto who is a Castle......no Wiz is not a Queen, but he has been known to knock a King.

      • Did i say anywhere there that either is better than Matterson? My comment was based purely on salary. Matterson staying means less coin to sign both, obviously.

Sorry Poppa, but this comment was not saying Kaufusi and/or Afoa are a good replacement to Matterson, i was saying with him staying we can only afford one of those two, where the post asked why can't we get both.

        • Sorry LB, went back and read it again and I see what your saying. I Intepretated it as if we had those two it would equate to a Matterson.....i.e. 2 soldiers versus an officer.

Does that mean Wiz is playing in the Trans team or is that just a tie back?

          • All good it happens, I agree though, Matto is getting a bad go of late here, he adds value.

  • He looks massive compared to when he was at parramatta. Hasn't really improved since then either. I'd take him if Ryles thinks he can use him

  • Always rated him tbh.

    Yes from me

  • Cause for caution, i have not seen anywhere that Kaufusi has been tapped by Cronulla, he has yet to take up an option which he can do at any point.
