Could Oregon Kaufusi return to the Eels in 25?

The Sharks have reportedly told Oregon Kaufusi he's free to find a new club for next season. Being a former Eels junior and a decent prop I would love the club to pursue this. I don't think he's anywhere near 500K (the deal the sharks got him for 1.5 over 3 years pretty sure) but we could definitely sign him for less than that now that his stock has gone down with how many big boppers the Sharks have.

Would you guys want Oregon back? Personally a yes from me, and I'd add Bunty Afoa to that, we need starch up front. Then I'd be doing everything I could to get Blake Mozer away from the Broncos and Homer and Bart Walters.

  • No, pass. If it is reported that Ryles wants a more agile and mobile pack, then please tell me how OK improves this. He is simply that, OK and nothing more. Our props will be Offa, Matto, Paulo and Lane. I still say we should have retained Reg but he is gone. OK is cheaper than Reg, but so too is what he offers, aside from age.

  • Nope, not even a decent backup player.

  • I havent really noticed him. I didnt really think he was much with us. Remember when any of starting middles used to go off we sucked. Kaufusi was one of those that came on to replace them remember. But, of course, he is older now and is starting in a team doing much better than us. So I guess it could work for the right money. But I wouldnt be super confident he would be any better.

  • I'd say yes for the right price but we need a 9 and a backrower 1st and foremost

  • I'd welcome Oregon as I said in the other blog, but a prop is no priority for me.

I think we have enough middles considering most of our backrowers are better as middles now.

I'd release Greig along with RCG. If Kaufusi wants to come for sensible money then I'm OK with it, but that'll be that. No more Afoa or whoever. I'd even be happy with 0 middles coming. Lane, Matterson, Paulo, Moretti, Guymer, Ofahengaue, plus the youngsters. That's heaps.

  • We need a back row not a prop

    • We need both.

  • He is heaps bigger than when he left us. But he still looks pretty mobile. I would have him back

  • I would take him.  AT THE RIGHT PRICE.
I had him in my SC team so watched him fairly closely. He went through a purple patch earlier in the year when he was starting and playing bigger minutes. He was killing it. Making 100m, defensively solid etc. As Sharks got more players back he got less time. He's got it in him.

    • Yeah you wouldn't break the bank for him. I wasn't a fan of his when he was here before, he was only young and learning how to be a first grader, but I think he has shown enough improvement this year to consider at the right price,  what is the right price?, we can only speculate as we don't really know what players are paid but my guess would be under $400k.
