It has never been any different. If anything goes in the Eels favour it's an outrage, yet when it happens the other way it's the best thing for the player. Our previous board were a bunch of numb nuts & they were cheat's ( No Doubt ) But look at the mess at NRL central. How about we get them audited & see why it is run so poorly ( That's not what I think, It's what 16 NRL Club CEO's think )
1. Salary Cap for next season ( We will get back to you )
2. The Bunker ( $2,000,000.00 State of the art mistake )
3. Ref's ( Decide who wins depending on who they bet on or they really have no idea )
4. Country Rugby League ( Thrown under the bus )
5. Junior Rugby League ( Numbers dropping - AFL & Soccer winning parents over )
6. Certain teams able to fit $ 20 million worth of payers into the cap.
7. The same teams able to get player's for under's ( Dose not apply to Eels with Izzy )
I don't support NRL, I support the Eels.
The rest of them can all go to hell.
Good points Jim. Greenberg came in with promise to make rugby league strong again. So far he has pointed the finger at Parramatta (only because he had no choice) and swept everything else under the carpet. Where are the reforms we so desperately need? We need an astute administrator in charge of this game, not a nuffy. AFL and soccer are growing very rapidly in Western Sydney and if nothing is done soon it will be too late to stem the tide.
Coach Jim : Agree with with some of your points. You will find that 16 NRL Club CEO`s do not think the way you say they do. Some do, maybe a majority, but not 100%. A big problem is that there is a split between the clubs and they are not united. For example, Parramatta is not invited to some meetings of the clubs because they feel the Eels are too close to the NRL administration. There are other clubs that don`t turn to those meetings preferring the NRL way of doing things. To get NRL central audited and see why it is run so poorly (which I agree should happen) needs a very strong majority of club CEO to agree. That majority is not there at the moment. The clubs, I believe, are being side tracked by taking aim at Chairman Grant. The real target and problem is Greenberg. The clubs should be united and remove Greenberg. Grant can be removed later. Some bone headed CEO`s don`t see it that way at this time. I agree with your points 1-7. I said before Greenberg was appointed CEO that his appointment would be the beginning of the end of Rugby League in Australia. Your points 1-7 indicate that process is under way.
Agree Brad, They previous board certainly didn't do us any favours with the NRL or media.
$ Bill would have to be the classic - walked out and rang the team from France (or wherever) to let them know he was now playing Wugby.
A few years later waltzes back into NRL and hailed a hero.
Then went back to Wugby - then simply faded from existence.
