Has a lot of issues going on off the field and lot of red flags. Don't think it's the way to go with our team in a rebuild at the moment. He'll be chasing 700k to 1 mill
Brisbane papers today say they (Broncs) can afford to pay about 350 and Cobbo is looking for 700 ish, apparently he is on 650k, he is currently playing Reserve Grade. Don't let that stop you, he is a genuine talent a player you will only see once every few years come along.
Don't be surprised if the 3rd team is us. This regime telegraphs nothing and is tight as a drum. I don't think he would be hard to get in principle, its the club he wants to go to that will get the deal. JAC should be a key component in negotiations and the main thing is to ensure his ability to get home or fly family/friends in.
A big travel allowance should be built in, If that is outside the CAP contract, it gives us an advantage, you would think a Travel Company in Parramatta should be able to do a nice TPA. Also make sure you can find accomodation close to training that is close to people in the Parra process.
If you make the kid comfortable he has the ability to justify the effort. Mentoring and minding should be a natural process, education and idle time management will be crucial. If we have some young aboriginals in our pathways you could do worse than getting him in a role of mentoring, Maybe an apprenticeship as a groundsman at the new complex. That would be a career move that could have application post playing career. Other ideas could be sponsorships at Cherburg high school for young footballers, I think that Cobbo was the first Aboriginal school captain at that school.
LB, Bennett denied any prima facie interest.
Eli realise every player we chase will have red flags, its how you go about a seduction rather than say its too hard to start with (no pun). If you haven't been taught the "hows and whys" of the world, tomorrow is a good time to start.
Finally I remember having a conversation with Wiz about 10 years ago to do a similar thing with Sandow.
Well that didn't work, but hindsight tells me Wiz was not a good choice to mentor a young aboriginal boy. Lol
lol, why the fuck would you want to buy players we need to treat like a child ? These flogs are supposed to be professionals , they expect to be paid a premium but don't want to behave like premium humans.
I propose we do exactly what you've suggested and invest heavily in these community's , and I propose the funds come from an Aboriginal tax we smack on these indigenous players. Let's say 25% on every one of their contracts.
I think that's a fantastic idea and 25% taken from each indigenous player should sufficiently cover costs and resources incurred from having to be their mummy holding their hands whilst also investing in ensuring the next generation can act like professionals.
"Also while Papalii was a passenger in attack today, I think JR would not give two shits. It was all about seeing if Joash could handle the defensive workload. He did that. Could be something there for next year if they spend time focusing on it."
"Agree the shell of a good team is there, it's the recruitment of the big names who can take them over the top that's the issue. Ryles doing great with what he has "

It's rooster showing on DT
So people are happy we are chasing Garner and think we should chase Gagai but don't want us to chase Cobbo.
That'll do me.

Managers initial asking price was a $1million per season.
And allegedly a 5 year + contract too....

LOL come on Wiz, tell the truth you have never been the same since Sandow rejected you.
Just realised I asked Wiz to tell the truth.....I apologise for my onset of dementia.
The rejection I can handle , stealing my car was the last straw.
