Club Statement: Kaysa Pritchard

Last season Kaysa Pritchard suffered a serious injury and while he was able return to preseason training in October 2018, he continues to deal with some residual impact from that injury.

As a result, the Club has granted Kaysa’s request for some time away from the game to assess his immediate playing future.

Parramatta Eels General Manager of Football, Mark O’Neill, said the Club was doing everything possible to support Kaysa through this time.

“Our first priority is looking after Kaysa’s health and well-being ,” O’Neill said.

“Kaysa has been open with the Club about the impact from the injury he suffered and while we consider it a private medical matter, he is aware that he has our full support."

“We request that Kaysa’s privacy is respected at this difficult time."

Kaysa and the Club will not be commenting further at this time

  • Wtf is going on at Parra? Why has it taken nearly 4-5 months for this to come up?

i was against Issac Luke joining but not now.

    Parra’s in massive trouble.

    • Didn’t they sign him to a knew contract something very fishy going on here .for Christ sake get Luke ASAP

    • How do you know that Kaysa's decision to take time off wasnt made yesterday or last week? The injury couldve happened months ago but the severity of it may have only been confirmed recently

      • Exactly, it's a big decision for Kaysa and he was probably looking to see how his body responded during pre-season. This could be the end of his career and it's not a decision he'd have made quickly.

    • Losing Prichard won’t have us in anymore trouble then we were already in. Average player and injury prone with concussion problems

  • Wish Kaysa the best, he always put his body on the line for us.

Taking emotion out of it he was a pretty average player. Literally, EVERYONE saw him playing a max of about 7 games and not finishing 5 of those 7. Not sure that's the PC thing to say around here but his injuries left us short on the field/ bench many a time and this coming up now leaves the squad short again. Shoulda been advised against coming back for another year and given a coaching role of some sort at the club.

    • I think you have summed it up pretty well G W F  but i just get there is something more to this with the club statement .We ask that his privacy be respected at this difficult time .

  • Sorry to hear, but it sounds like there is more to this, mental health issues appear to be on the rise in the world of sport lately, with cricket players and Nrl players.

Good luck Kaysa with whatever your situation, injury, condition, well being is.

    Go Parra.

    • My belief is that he has issues with the knee still and its certainly affecting him in more ways than one. Probably its affected his confidence along with the amount of injuries he has sustained and with the surgery not mending in the way he hoped means he considers it best for the club/team and all to take time out for his own welfare and future.

Sure he has had injuries but to me he gave everything of himself and his serious injury caused  when he was tackled in 2017 could not have happened at a worse time as he was showing the abiliry he had at that time.

To me he gave more to the club and team than the vast majority of his critics.  I hope he gets things right and can play again.

  • Bad news for Kaysa mental state hope he takes the time he needs but great news for our team.  It’s what we need as a team, a different culture don’t forget what him and Kenny Edwards got up too.
