Losing faith Wizard, thats understatement mate. It's bloody hard being a parra supporter. How can a club with one of the biggest junior base fail to find a halfback in 30years...
You guys are missing Hindy's point. We have one of the largest junior nurseries in the country yet we are unable to develop a first grade standard halfback. We should have a friggen production line happening! There is an underlying issue there that needs to be resolved...
I'll tell you why- the huge number of islanders in our junior area and the short sighted junior coaches. They want a win that badly that they pick massive fast islander kids to steamroll oppositions rather then developing footballers.
Until the short sighted approach ends nothing will change. Coaches want to be heroes who coach champion teams with success at any cost. The cost in ours and Penrith is lack of homegrown halves.

I look at my little bloke at soccer. Scored 50 goals in two seasons. Coaches assessed his ability to find space, make right decisions, set up players highly.
Smallest kid in team and not real quick. Got to grading this year and didn't get a look in. Had other parents and last years coach in shock. He then scored 6 goals in half a game plus 10 minutes of trials but he walked away after found out coach had poached players from Mariners squads for under 9's team! He said he would rather play footy
Just can't work out why these coaches put so much importance on success in kids sports. It should be fun and skills development. Wins will come with that.
Me and a mate coached kids team last year- it was 10 kids from school just mates who wanted to play together. Great fun - we had some really good players and some not so good. No matter what though every game and training session the kids had fun. Every game every 5 minutes three interchange and all players played same minutes. In the end they won every game but that was a by product of fun.
We will have better teams and bigger player pools if we concentrate on coaching development. Just don't think it will ever happen.
Only thing KELLY brings to the table is stability. You know what you will get. He will pass the ball, he will kick on 5th and he will direct the play. He will create NO opportunities, he will not TEST the defense by taking on the line, he may not even deliver repeat sets for us. What this selection does it will allow more direct play and as long as we control the ball and complete around 80% we will be competitive as relentless pressure on Warriors can led to mistakes and defensive issues.I just dont know where our points will come from . If we go try for try with them we are gone. If we try to out muscle them,, we are gone.
Hindy, what did they look like at training? Did you watch the session or leave when you saw Kelly? Without giving any secrets away, did they look to be working on anything that differs from their usual structures.
At the start of the season all of the attacking was coming down the taka/norman/semi side so hopefully they can replicate that. Hopefully norman takes over. For some reason i have a feeling we will win, call me crazy. Kelly seems to play well for the first game or 2 back in the top grade and then starts to dip.
I must say I'm quite happy with Kelly. Give Norman the job of directing the team around and tell Kelly just to have a solid game.
The halves are far from out worst problem. We are getting slaughtered out wide with our centres and wings.

Which other halves has he been sounding out?

Cant say I am looking forward to Saturday night.
Plus I hope he controls his passing game, he can be a bit erratic at times.
