Charles Guymer

Hard to single out 1 guy in a pretty inept performance but Charles is the face of inept . 40 metres in 80 minutes . The most unathletic , uninspiring back rower in the competition . By god he is a bad player . Im yet to see one thing he does at an NRL level . Can't run a line , can't break a tackle , can't hit in defence , loses almost every contact he's involved in. Congrats MON and all involved on the retention .
Every team in the comp has powerful , mobile athletic back rowers who can move . We have a bloke that moves around like he's carrying a backpack with 150kg in it . Having edges like him paired with completely useless centres like Penisni and Russell is destroying the prime of Mitch Moses career .

  • I just hope I'm wrong in that the club seems to be desperate to have some fruits of their junior development labour . Charlie was a NSW u19s player .. captain I think ? They need to be honest with themselves and say whether it's his ceiling not being NRLOr the subtle rule changes or a combination of both .. he might be a hard trainer , lovely kid and proof of our pathways development  but he is not the prototypical forward in the modern game . There may be smarter people than me but he is not what the other clubs ( especially the good ones ) are putting out there . Something has gone wrong in talent identification by the looks . The exact same applies with Will Penisini. The closest comparison to him is probably Matt Timoko but even then he doesn't have that explosive acceleration . Timoko is being shopped while we double down on inept . Very concerning. All our recruitment needs to be competitive athletic football players going forward. We are coached well but getting blown away by how rubbish our stocks are .

  • I smirked a little at the backpack comment.

Like Chief eluded to, he needs to find some intensity to his game again.
Ryles has him on that edge in the belief he can protect or assist Volkman in defence, the problem being that he misses 4 to 5 tackles a game.
He tries hard but so does my ex wife to make my life difficult.

  • harsh  but true  ,  SOS  .. Daniel alvaro  ffs !

  • Yeah Guymer is a middle, he's definitely not a edge player, but he's way to slow for the modern game, he's only 98kg so he should be a lot better then this.

  • Guymer, Kelly, Kemla, Russell, Volkman, Pyke, Debelin,  for mine are not FG players. Our juniors may cover 2 or 3 of those.

  • Expect a different team after the bye.young fresh legs hit and sticks gona be amazing

  • As LB said on a previous blog, Guymer has come our new punching bag. He started rd1 in nsw cup which shows that JR views him as a depth player which is what he is at this stage of his career. Injured have resulted in him playing more than anticipated. We are missing Hopgood, Doorey, Tuivita, Matto, Kautoga and Latu just within the forward pack. Sorry that we don't Hudson Young as a back up. But we create a blog about him but disregard Kelly dropping the ball how many times? Not to mention his shit defensive read to start the game. Gonna ignore how Moretti is strong for only 5min before being lazy as fuck. At least Guymer is there to try and make the tackle while there are some others who are not even fucked to do so. So when you put Guymer in a forward pack surrounded by others who are even worse defenders, of course he is going to look even worse. His future is in the middle. But please some of you are acting like he is aged in his prime years on 700k and being a lazy fuck. He is a young bloke signed to be a back up.
