Sivo will miss 1 week with an early plea
Papali’i just a fine.
Paramatta Eels star Isaiah Papali’i will receive a monetary fine after dropping his knee into Tigers player Luciano Leilua’s face.
Ray Hadley has been informed Papali’i will not be required to serve a suspension, but has received a $1150 fine.
“The indication is that the knee to the head on the player … was not delivered with any great force,” Ray reported.
“I don’t give a bugger whether it’s great force or not!
“It’s a deliberate act, kneeing a person in the head.”
Ray said the penalty was an embarrassment following the code’s crackdown on head knocks.
“That’s embarrassing. That’s embarrassing to you, Peter V’landys, it’s embarrassing to the ARL Commission.
“It’s one thing to have an independent match review committee, it’s another thing to have an absolute farce!
“If that’s the best the match review committee can do, it might be time, Peter, to move the match review committee on.”

I can't believe you only get a fine for doing what papalii did, very lucky.
I don't get why people thought it was so bad? 10 mins in the bin is way more than it deserved. I reckon the ref was probably just warning both teams who were getting pretty fired up at that stage.
Deliberately dropping your knee into an opponents head is not on, it's a very bad look for the game and should be discouraged by suspension. The game has had multiple kicking and kneeing incidents in the past couple of weeks, fines aren't working.
Yes he should have been suspended, players are currently being suspended for accidental high shots, deliberate attacks of the head should be dealt with more harshly.
Luckily for papalii the mrc agree with you and not me. I wonder how many eels fans would be calling the tigers player a dog if were the other way around.
It wasn't intentional and its not as if he was looking down at the guys head and thought what a great chance to knee this guy in the head. It all happened in seconds and it was clearly an accident.
HKF, if the Tiger that put his elbow into RCG's head was sin binned, would Papa have had cause for retribution? Let's imagine he still does it and gets sin binned. I reckon Eels fans would then say "all is fair in love and war".
But the inconsistency two tackles apart is a much bigger issue rhan two instances of foul play, which no-one really disputes were each foul play?
The inconsistency is incredibly bad but that's no excuse for papalii to deliberately drop his knee into an opponents head. Imo he is lucky to only get a fine.
Agreed inconsistency is no excuse for foul play. It can help explain it though. The inconsistency can also help us understand that it is likely the Eels were sending a message to other teams: foul us, get away it, and we won't stay quiet on the field. The Eels are not the Roosters, where Robinson takes what happens on the field and continues to prosecute it. I just think the Eels said they would deal with the foul play themselves.
Papa was a lucky boy. Thought he would get a rest for sure. Not too much damage done, which is good
