    • They should put Lorenzo in there now to get a guage on how he'll go.  Volkman isn't going great. Lorenzo will learn more with better players in fg

      • All for it, let's see what you have. We aren't playing finals so let's see.

      • I agree I'd start him against Newcastle

        • Unless Ryles does not think he is up to it? As to why they are going for Burton.

          • If we go for Burton then Ryles does not think Lorenzo is ready next year, that's for sure. I am willing to trust Ryles about that if it happens.

I would try and keep Lorenzo while snaggin Burton, but that's pretty hard.

Ideally, we are just monitoring Burton for now and after a few games from Lorenzo next few weeks we might just settle on him.

Burton is good IMO, but from my outside view the ceiling for Lorenzo is very high and if I had to put my eggs somewhere gun to the head I'd stick with Lorenzo.

            That's me, not Ryles.

        • Don't agree withgoing after Burton. Apart from his kicking game and ability to convert, he offers nothing else in attack.

He'd be the usual average. Why have the dogs gone cool on him?

Draw from inside, or wait and be generous for the more talented.

  • All that was said by James Hooper is that he`s been getting mail for a ` coupla ' weeks that Eels and Bears are monitoring the Matt Burton situation at Canterbury . Nothing to get excited bout yet , if at all .

  • OK I'll bite.  Just for one moment imagine if the two rumours that have emerged over the past week come true.  Spenser and Burton would make us a real threat in 2027 and if we could jag Herbie in the centres....well!  My juices will flow once again.  Sorry about the mental picture...

  • Big yes for me. It has been doing the rounds on the Kennel, social media and Hooper is talking about it. While all these things don't mean anything. The fact its being reported in all different parts of social media hopefully means there are some legs to it. Plus Gus just came out and said Galvin isn't a halfback.

While Burton isn't elite he is a very good player who can play multiple positions. I think he is a big enough name that could help attract some other talent to Parra. Start at 5/8 and if Renzo is killing it in cup, burton to centre and Lorenzo to 5/8. If he becomes available I think we need to take this risk and offer him decent coin. He's still only 26.

  • No thanks. Unless he takes a pay cut and comes over as a centre.

"Galvin as a 6 I would take in a heartbeat. We better be regularly sliding into his DMs reminding him how easy it was for him to get out of his Tigers contract...and if you can do it once..."

"Nope. He is a centre that can kick."

"I don't get the love for Burton.
No one has really figured out to use his skills in a way that makes him as valuable as everyone expects him to be (and what he'd expect his pay packet to be).
He's a talented footy player who's hype over the years…"
