It was ugly, true, but it was after all his first charge, and there has been a lot worse. I think 1 week is probably about right.
From what I have read, he had never been charged in the UK either so it does seem like it was a one-off. 4 weeks would of been too harsh IMO.
Maybe im just a bit biased, I like the guy. He seems very down to earth, easy going, and extremely tough on the field. He is aggressive and it's pleasure seeing him play.
4 weeks, specially in this time of the year would of received a big uproar from the media, but 1 week is about right IMO.
It did look very ugly YDIDISAYIDO but there was also a lot of momentum in that tackle.
Burgess also did not appear to deliberately drive him into the ground but with the combination of momentum and body positioning he came down on top of the player.
If there had of been any indication otherwise I think the judiciary would have given him longer. Much longer
Rugby league is a body contact sport and head high tackles in particular I can live with because its easy for fatigue to settle in.... timing etc to be off.
Howwever, what Burgess did was purely idiotioc. He simply renched Barba's neck via his chin.... his action was not consistant with "working a player" or carrying out a tackle. It was a deliberate act to cause the other player some discomfort... definately a brain snap BUT... how much further would Burgess have to go to cause serious injury.... another 1/2 a cm perhaps.
It was very very very stupid. I am sure he was not far off causing a very serious injury.

"I agree 100% i would pick Katoa he young really good player
There is no way i pick Moses and Clearly as i said its a young man game look at QLD they drop DEC and pick young Dearen and won 2
