Bulldogs out of race for Lachlan Galvin

The Bulldogs have withdrawn from the race to sign Lachlan Galvin, leaving Parramatta as the firm frontrunners to lure the 19-year-old half to the Eels as Dylan Brown’s replacement. The news comes as another two Wests Tigers players have raised concerns about their alleged mistreatment at the club with the Rugby League Players Association.

Canterbury general manager Phil Gould has been glowing in his praise of Galvin during the past 12 months and it was widely anticipated the Bulldogs would make a significant play for the rising star. After watching the Galvin saga unfold at the Tigers, the Bulldogs had internal discussions in recent days to decide whether they would enter the market whenever the teenager became a free agent. Gould, however, has revealed that the Bulldogs have decided against any such bid.

“We are not involved in the Lachlan Galvin discussion and we won’t be involved in the Lachlan Galvin discussion,” Gould told this masthead. “We wish him all the best.”

Gould remains a big believer in Galvin’s ability, but given the Bulldogs’ recent form as they have roared to the top of the table after an unbeaten start to the year, the club is not in a position to make a move on the want-away Tigers playmaker.

With Wests Tigers already facing a legal fight with Galvin over allegations of bullying, the Herald can reveal that fellow top 30 players Justin Matamua and Brandon Tumeth have both raised grievances with the RLPA about unfair treatment by the club.

  • Another player that was in the same situation was Jayden Sullivan , he won't come forward as he's only on loan to Souths so has alot to lose should they decide to make his life hard again.  But if we remember he was on record last season stating similar treatment as to what Galvin has been receiving.

  • Well that means Gus knows they can't get him and this is his way of saving face, never wants to show he has lost or can't win, he is always agenda driven and a crafty fucker

    • I actually like what Gus and roosters even have been doing of late , calling out they are not in the race for players , gives player managers less leverage

      • Yeah and also you don't want your club in the headlines constantly. Gives everyone a clear head

    • Spot on. He knows they never had a chance.

  • I think they screwed up with this , if those guys are top 30 and playing them lower grades they going to get screwed.

dont know why people think Richo is a great operator , he had Crowe's money and influence at Souths , he did fuck all when he was employed at the nrl.

    • Journos & commentators pump people's tyres just so they can get inside info.

Richo was shown last week that he's a rank amateur at best with that stupid post he put out about Galvin wantring to look elsewhere. He started this whole saga and it will most likely cost him his job.

  • The last paragraph is quite something.

    Full on circus that club.

  • I think NRL 360 said Tuivati is under Isaac Moses as is Penisini.  Both will be resigned along with Galvin I feel but it does give him leverage in negotiations.

Luckily Moses and Galvin want to play for the Eels so I don't think Moses will be able to have as much influence as in the past.  Moses is practically locked up for career as he removed options but Penisini might be lucky To keep his spot due to his manager.

  • Bulldogs said the same about Sitili Tupouniua. They are sly and will dog ( pardon the pun) any prospect to get who they want. Not convinced they won't go hard for him.
