Bulldogs and Dolphins in talks with Apa Twidle

Parramatta are facing a battle to keep boom rookie Apa Twidle.

Sport Confidential can reveal Twidle has attracted interest from three NRL rivals in the wake of his stunning two-try debut against the Wests Tigers on Easter Monday.

Twidle’s management has fielded an inquiry from Phil Gould’s Bulldogs and the Dolphins, while Mal Meninga’s Perth Bears are also watching the young gun closely.

Twidle is off-contract at season’s end and has been offered a development deal by the Eels for 2027.

But the Eels may have to up the ante following Twidle’s brilliant baptism against the Tigers, which has piqued the interest of NRL suitors.

The 21-year-old Kiwi is one of the most versatile players in the league, capable of playing wing, centre and in the halves.

  • Give him a 3 year contract or he gone

But i can tell you now he is gone we wont upgrade him

  • He won't play fullback at the dogs or dolphins. Perth are now interested.lets see how he goes after a few more games. Some fans jizzing in their pants after he scores 2 trys against 12 men. He won't get much more money if he leaves. If i was apa i'd take the development deal and go from there. He's got a better chance playing week to week at parra.

    • Apa Twidle is a brilliant playmaker, tryscorer and goal kicker with time and composure. No one else in our juniors has that allround package and must be signed long time immediately. I've come to that conclusion, not by going the easy route and relying on highlight reels but watching him for the last 2 years courtesy of Bar tv. Rather us moaning about the average players we're forced to buy, lets be Bold and sign him, now.

      • Richard your someone that's been watching him properly as you say. His attacking upside is great. But are you worried by the fact his defence and high ball decision is not improving. Plus the difference between his good and bad game is still big

  • I cant blame Apa for testing the market. League is a gladiatorial sport and your next game could be your last. You train all your life for a major payday. Look at poor Hayze Dunster ( done just when he made the team) or Stephen Arthur-Miller struggling 3 seasons to get back to 1st grade

"i am still adamant that Jezaiah needs to move to the middle. Latu needs to fix his fitness up so he can go back to his damaging best. He always looks tired out there in cup."

"Excellent signing if true.
Sua and Kautoga as edges, Williams moves fulltime in the middle. Gives us more time too to work on Latu, Funa-Iuta, Petrus as the up and coming edges.
Good stuff."
