Bulldogs and Dolphins in talks with Apa Twidle

Parramatta are facing a battle to keep boom rookie Apa Twidle.

Sport Confidential can reveal Twidle has attracted interest from three NRL rivals in the wake of his stunning two-try debut against the Wests Tigers on Easter Monday.

Twidle’s management has fielded an inquiry from Phil Gould’s Bulldogs and the Dolphins, while Mal Meninga’s Perth Bears are also watching the young gun closely.

Twidle is off-contract at season’s end and has been offered a development deal by the Eels for 2027.

But the Eels may have to up the ante following Twidle’s brilliant baptism against the Tigers, which has piqued the interest of NRL suitors.

The 21-year-old Kiwi is one of the most versatile players in the league, capable of playing wing, centre and in the halves.

  • That'll do me

  • Makes sense his agent does this to up and offer from Parramatta since he has now debuted.

  • He has spoken about how much he loves Parra. With a good offer he will hang around.

  • We will lose him. What will it take to get these dead beats out of parra buckets and co

  • I mean he's been on the radar forever. He's only on a development deal but he's good enough to debut and has a cracker.
Now if you're a Football Manager with at least half a brain you sit down with his manager today and lock him in for at least 2 more years on a Top 30 deal.
If you're MON and co, you dick around and 'wait and see'. You allow him a lot more time for his value to go up and to speak to other clubs. Meanwhile based on his performances his value keeps rising. In the end after playing some more FG and having the sun shine up his arse by the likes of Gus Gould he starts to believe he's entitled to a starting spot so shops himself around to the highest bidder and a spot in the 17.
And in Round 27 we have a big farewell at Commbank and allow Apa to take the final shot for goal and get a lovely Members email written thanking him for his service.
    Then we sign Matt Dufty.

  • Lot of highlight reel watchers on this website. Seen twiddle play one nrl game and the trials and have a wet dream. I have been watching Twiddle and seen every game he has played since we won SG ball in 2023. That year I said his ball season was better than Sanders, MA and Talagi. I said he was my best player of that season. However, watching him progress since than his attacking upside with the ball is amazing. When you see him raid short sides at fullback or 6 you think that your watching Mitchell Moses. That's what you will see a lot of when you do the reel watches. But if you been watching full games you will see the errors in his game, poor high ball defusion especially when contested and his poor defence. The last thing people fail to consider is he is the third choice fullback behind Iongi and Papalii. He would be third choice 5/8 behind Lorenzo and potentially Papalii. Why would he stay for that when he could easily get a second choice fullback at another club. Don't get me wrong I would love for him to stay and sign a top 30 contract, but I am also realistic. Been very vocal on his talents for the past 4 years and the fact he would be a perfect utility that can cover the full outside back and halves. He has never played wing and centre in his junior reps career either which amazes me about his put down last game

    • Ea , ask yourself this question,  is Twidle worth keeping ? Ye or no

If he is you find a way. Thats mark o'neill job to identify talent and lock them up before its too late

If Twidle goes its another black mark on O'Neill’s resume

      • You realise we have a head of recruitment, right? And that the head of recruitment is not O'Neill?

        • Does the head of recruitment answer to O'Neill?

  • Ahh yes, train him well, let him display his wears, then let a bunch of other clubs inflate his value so we have to overpay for potential or lose another junior.

    Masterstroke.

You realise these articles are planted by the player managers when clubs are asleep at the wheel? Yet again we've done this to ourselves.

Now we will either overpay or lose him. Spectacular. The infamous R&R committee living up to expectations. The fact that this even hit the media means they've already failed.
