Nice article on Lachlan Coinakis. Rumours were he was set to head off to Souths this year, instead extending til 2027. Ryley Smith has been good, i think personally overrated (Shoot me), but he has been good for us. But Coinakis adding competition would be nice and builds a sense of needing to be great every week. I believe Ryles is high on Coinakis, probably the reason behind us looking at Brailey, despite being in the backend of his career. More so waiting for Coinakis to be ready. He is 19, 20 next year i believe.
EA should be able to help as i my exposure to him is limited, though Aus Schoolboy selection and hopefully U19's NSW Selection as well. His next step is to make his way into Flegg. Jack Hudson is performing well, chance for Coinakis to impress and topple him. Hands is off-contract in 2026, Lussick this year, there is a path for Coinakis to be Hooker #3 in 2026. More likely receiving a development deal for 2026 and 2027. Then the ideal scenario would be Smith and Coinakis being out two Hookers in 2027.

In regards to Riley , I think u are way off here has been outstanding considering how green he is, he is everywhere from kick chases, charge downs etc , he makes no more mistakes than our so called senior players, him and Bailey are players u can build a club around....all heart and effort!!!!

He just needs to have his kicking licence cancelled after a few rubbish kicks early in the tackle count recently.

Riley is great in effort areas, like you say.
He kind of lacks athleticism a bit though. He gets bumped around in defence, moves awkwardly, isn't very quick, so he is kind of limited by his lack of athleticism.
But I agree with you about his effort areas. He is great in that regard.

Riley is actually very fast. He jumped reserve grade and came straight into first grade playing 80mins after a few weeks.
He is one of the fittest players at the club.
He has been given a massive ask and performed as well as you could hope for someone with his experience.
Cant expect him to be Harry straight away.
How he has handled such a jump in class should not be under-rated....I am cheering for him
He is good, love the effort. Kicking game is not great and has shown me he can be a capable Hooker. He has wowed me with effort and that's it.
Seriously I say he is good but not amazing and people jump down my throat. Even Ryles is not sold on him it seems from pressers.
Some here rate him over Mahoney, which I think is not the case, Mahoney is a better passer and kicker simple as that. Thats what I mean by overrated at this stage. Definitely has time on his side to get even better. Not writing him off in the slightest.
Thiugh when asked about the future of the team with Smith at 9, Ryles was very matter of fact saying he will see. Not a glowing endorsement so to speak. Not saying Ryles hates him or anything, but I think Ryles has eyes on another Hooker and use Smith as a 14.

That's how it should be, let the kid play and see what he becomes. Thats all I'm referring to about overrated that some fans are claiming he is better than these players and he is not but not saying he can't be.
