Parramatta star Dylan Brown has appeared in court for the first time charged with five counts of sexually touching another person without consent.

Dylan Brown’s lawyer says CCTV does not support the allegation the Parramatta Eels star touched a woman’s breasts on five occasions at a Sydney eastern suburbs hotel.

Brown on Monday appeared in court for the first time after he was accused of touching a woman without her consent at the Golden Sheaf, in Double Bay, about 11.40pm Saturday.

NSW Police said officers arrested the 22-year-old and he was later taken to Waverley Police Station.

He was then charged with five counts of sexually touching another person without consent.

Brown was granted bail before he appeared at Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday.

Mr Brown was on Wednesday represented in court by solicitor David Newham and supported by Eels staff and his manager Gavin Orr.

Magistrate Theo Tsavdaridis agreed to adjourn the matter for three weeks.

“Mr Brown and I viewed the CCTV footage yesterday at the Bondi Police Station,” Mr Newham said outside court on Wednesday.

“It does not support the notion that on five separate occasions Mr Brown has approached this young woman and with both hands has touched both of her breasts. It does not support that at this point in time.”

The prosecution agreed to two variations of his bail, including having his reporting conditions reduced from three days a week to Monday only.

As well, his previous conditions stated he could not enter the Double Bay area. He had that amended so he was only precluded from licensed premises in Double Bay.

Mr Newham told the court he was hopeful of the matter being resolved when it returns to court later this month.

According to court documents, police allege Brown touched the woman’s breasts on five occasions from 11.19pm and 11.20pm on Saturday night.

Mr Brown, from Rose Bay, was not required to enter a plea on Wednesday.

Mr Brown, who was born in New Zealand, has played 95 games for the Eels since making his debut with the team in 2019 when he was just 18.

He has been selected for the Eels’ Monday afternoon clash with Canterbury, however he could yet be stood down under the NRL’s “no fault” policy.

Mr Brown has not been stood down automatically because he has not been charged with an offence that carries a maximum jail term of 11 years or more.

However, NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo could yet use his discretionary power to stand him down.

UPDATE: Later today, at 4:55pm, the NRL released a statment saying it was standing down Dylan Brown.

"The NRL has today advised the Parramatta Eels that Dylan Brown is subject to a No-Fault Stand Down Condition under the NRL Rules."

"New South Wales Police charged Dylan Brown with several counts of sexually touch without consent following an incident at Double Bay on Saturday 3 June 2023."

"The NRL decision should in no way be interpreted as a view on the innocence or guilt of the player."

  • So these accusations are all hear say? If true cops are the real grubs.

    • I wouldn't assume that the cops did anything wrong, Analyst.

They were probably doing what they thought was right at the time, based on the evidence they had at the time, and perhaps in difficult circumstances. Friday and Saturday nights are the busiest when everyone is stretched. They may not have had time for detectives and senior figures to review all the evidence at midnight. There might be hundreds of these sorts of things that happen every weekend.

They probably erred on the side of caution, and perhaps with bouncers and a compelling story from the young lady they may have been obliged to not ignore it.

Imagine they ignored it, and something horrible happened to that girl?

Either way, they're in between a rock and a hard ball.

But, it's starting to explain why Dylan was so chirpy. The lawyers and his counsel must have been quite confident.

    • I'm sure the arresting officers weren't parra fans.

      Probably Roosters Supporters.

      This is an absaloute disgrace.

    • Nah the cops are doing their job, in this type of environment you have to lean towards the victim unfortunately. It is the girl who should have a look at herself if the reports are false, most times nothing happens to those who make false claims. Now still a lot to play out but if CCTV footage ain't showing too much then it leans heavily in the favour of Dylan.

  • Should of been thrown out today.

    • I'm guessing it shows one or twice touching not five separate times.

      • Times were 11.19 to 11.20......to touch them 5 times they must have ben playing Patta Cake Patta Cake 3 bags full .....LOL

        • We know his quick Pop . But not that quick. Plus he wouldn't of got much of a feel hey

          • Bob Hope and Bing Crosby, Bobby.....the road to's....remember them.

In our day we would have just got our faces slapped and the girl would run away giggling to tell her friends!!! things have changed.....my wife said when she was 16 and didn't get a wolf whistle she thought she must be waring too many clothes or her dress was not short enough.....

This snotty nosed bitch goes to a night club which is renowned for being picked up and gets her panties in a knot for a tap on the tit's.... Oh for the good days Bobby!

PS I am not convinced that Breast's are sexual anymore, every second person has them and you can bump into them anywhere....lol

            • Are the good old day's memories memories. Now I've forgotten what they feel like . Better try giving mine abit of a touch up
