Offloading in footy isn't an easy task. It mainly about timing and positioning yourself in a tackle to give you the opportunity to do it. It's definitely something our forwards need to work on.
Tim Mannah is a good example were he rairly gets into a position to offload. His main objective is to push hard in the tackle (driving forward) and to get a quick play the ball. Most if not all our forwards play this way. Although this can also be a good thing for the team. I do believe you need 1 or 2 players that can create opportunities to offload. It creates doubt in the opposition and also makes them work harder around the ball to cut off the offload.
Sometimes a quick play-the-ball is better than an offload because it forces the defenders to backpedal. For this reason offloads are at their most effective when the defenders are either rushing back into position before the tackle is completed, or if they're already rooted and not getting up in the first place. But if the defence is aggressive and working hard, they will stay up until the attacker is on the ground. That way his offload will just lead to his team mates being under pressure.
Watching most of the game last night, the defence of the horses was tops, in fact it won them the game, especially with the way they were able to in essence demoralise the pups with. Watching Hunt last night & his quick thinking led to at least 2 tries the one he scored of his own rebounded kick, which no doubt was intentional, he also pounced on a ball dropped in a tackle by one of the Morris players, Hunt seemed in another class to the dogs halves.
Klemmer is abject rubbish his skip & hop approaching the defence weakens his run, nothing like his old style of pushing forward with his leg power. The horses forwards have top leg power & Blair in particular continues to push forward he seems determined to not go down, Parker the same, even old Sammy is huge in his runs, likewise with the way each of them turn in the tackle & always looking to get the ball away.
The way they also get off the player fast is great but notice that there's also one that stays with the tackled player just long enough to ensure the others get back into the defensive line. Will be interesting watching them play Canberra with their big forwards.
"He's already played a ton of lower grades. His best course of action is to play off the bench as he has been for NRL.
He needed a pre-season. After 2026 if he is still all over the place then yeah go for your life knocking him."
"It's last years heritage which i quite like. I love their current home one but this is a nice substitute. There will be minor changes of course, I do hope the blue is a bit darker."

The Dogs are an average team, them being in the top 4 shows how average the competition has become.
