Broncos Lost It.

With around 12 mins to go, Ben Hunt kicks the ball into touch to slow down the game. That becomes the go to play with the broncos thinking their defense can hold out the Cowboys. The end result obviously was they couldn't and the Cowboys score at the death. For me that kind of play is okay when you are playing the lesser teams, but certainly not when you are playing against the best play maker in the comp and a team full of stars.Instead of kicking the ball dead, Hunt should have been trying to get a repeat set or put points on, instead of simply handing the ball over at a scrum, I mean why would you try and protect a lead when it's only 4 points. What's silly is Hunt also kicked the ball out of play at the end of the first half? Also, while I'm at it, why take the 2, when your only 4mins into the game.I'm glad the Cowboys had the finish they did and we didn't see the Broncos boring us to death.

  • Read it exactly as I did Kurupt
A 4 point lead was never enough and the Broncos game plan was to close it out. Bad rea by Bennett. I really feel for Ben Hunt.
    • Poor kid gave away that stupid penalty and then the knock on. He would have been shattered.
  • Man, creds to the Broncs and their defense. Why can't Parra defend like that? Those Broncs certainly held the Cowgirls back until that final ten seconds. man, what a match. Never seen a match like it for years. Bit like when Sydney Swans won their first GF by 1 point. That was one of the best GFs in any sports I've seen. Last night's was better.

  • I agree. I can see why they did, to slow game and time. But we as eels know the Cows play to the 80'th minute and I was glad they won with that try. I was hoping Thurston would kick the goal. Not a fan of golden point. It has to be 5 min each way, and team with most points at end wins, unless a team scores a try. Teams always offside in golden point. Cows are lucky they have Thurston. He remained composed in extra time. I cannot believe he was best player...surely Tamou, Granville, Morgan even Milford was v good IMO. Not the best GF in my view. Newcastle win over Manly was good, and Canberra V Tigers good, even the 2005 game was good with Tigers and Cows. Anything without the wrestle and Melbourne is good. Fast open game.
    • For me 2008 was one to remember, I put aside my hate for manly and just enjoyed my hate for the storm. 40 nil on the scum was the best result in a game I didn't want to watch, but had to because I was with family and friends.
  • If Blair hit Thurston, rather than falling off him, we'd be talking about how close the Cowboys came and how well the boring Bronco tactics worked.
    • True. The game came down to the last play. You can't say the Cowboys win was convincing, but there wasn't much between the two sides. I actually thought Thurston was not involved enough in the entire game, but he still had a major impact with the winning field goal.
    • Milford had the game of his life. Jack Reed also played out of his skin.
  • Broncos had it won when they had a decent attacking set, then kept them down in there 30, then Hunt got done for the spear tackle. piggy backed them up the field.
I reckon Hunt lost them that game twice over.
  • Will be interesting to see how long Hunt sits on the side line next year for that tackle. It was a shocker.
