Breach Notice Issued for Eels Player

The National Rugby League (NRL) has issued a Parramatta Eels player with a breach notice alleging he brought the game into disrepute after a video emerged of him participating in an intimate act at a public venue.

The notice proposes the player is fined $5,000.

All players are public figures and have a responsibility to ensure their actions do not risk damaging the brand and reputation of the game.  In this circumstance, the NRL believes the player failed in that responsibility.

The NRL accepts the player is the alleged victim of an illegally filmed video and is offering both welfare support and assistance if he wishes to pursue criminal action against the individual who filmed the video.

The NRL has determined the player did not breach any other NRL rule nor is there any complaint about the conduct of the player.

The player has 5 days to respond to the NRL Breach Notice.

  • So if the next guy is knocking one out with his missus, forgets to close the blinds, and is recorded by someone on their morning jog, will that player be fined $5000?

  • Sounds reasonable. Did nothing wrong but if you are earning big bucks because you are a public figure you need to be a little more discrete than a public toilet. $5K fine seems proportionate.

  • We could argue whether he deserves any punishment or not but pay the fine and move on. Lessons learnt.

    • thats an expensive 4 seconds

      • What, 4 whole seconds ?

        Consecutively ???

    • I think what they are saying is you haven't done anything illegal (although he's probably gone close to an act of public indecency - can't be bothered checking how close) but as an NRL player you aren't allowed to root chicks in public toilets. Fair enough. Move on. I personally think it's stupid to hold players to account for their actions in public like you would some elected official but I guess in a way it's par for the course now.

        • sex in a public toilet is completely different to someone peering through your blinds. It's a public toilet. Sure you aren't allowed to enter a public toilet cubicle while someone is hanging a dump for obvious reasons but I tell you what if you are snorting coke or something in a toilet cubicle a bouncer isn't going to ask if your pants are up before busting in. It's called a public toilet for a reason.
