Brad Speaks!

It's not very often you'll hear Brad speak up about refs or adjudication, but then again it's not every day we get to play Melbourne in Melbourne in The Semis either. Saved his best for last. Good on him and spot on as usual!http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/wrestlemania-eels-coach-brad-arthur-begins-mind-games-ahead-of-clash-with-storm/news-story/79bfbe835950f461638f8e345ab7b506

  • Yep, and not just that

Despite the win i was really disappointed with the performance last night but hearing BA's full press conference got me thinking the team is a chance next week.
    • True Dave lets face it if he could hold the ship together last year surely Melbourne in Melbourne is doable :)
      "We playing Melbourne, are we?"...classic!

Yeah the masters of controlling the Tempo of the game, don't need any extra help and I'm glad he mentioned it too.
It's a big part of the reason Souths hung in there. There was one last night, where Mau was up on his feet ready to play and was fending the guy off. If these things are allowed to happen down there it'll be a blood bath.
  • All we needed was the win last night to secure top 4. Now it's down to business. Parra will fire!!

  • Dave, were you disappointed because you expected another 50 point performance or maybe the same as what Melbourne did to them last week? Or maybe a clinical performance agains a team missing quality players?
The Bunnies bounced back really well after being seriously embarrassed. They were missing troops and gave as much as they could in their last game of the season.
We didn't play well for big parts of the game but we did enough to pretty much be in control for the whole game. Like BA said in his presser, two years ago we would have found a way to lose that one.
We're in the 4. Next week begins a brand new competition. We start with the hardest game there is. I'm sure BA has a plan and I'm hoping the boys go out and give it a red hot go.
    • Good comments Camo. Souths did play well and threw all they had at us. We would've expected that.
Though I'd be lying if I said I wasn't very worried at stages in that match and esp given the importance of it; partly for reasons Brad outlined or others, but thought we were off being in total control of it.

Think it'll be a much steelier performance from us next week as well and confident we will show em what we've really got.
    • No what i was expecting was improvement the score (other than winning) was irrelevant

It was how the team played that was important

Last week BA said that he was angry about the mental lapses and soft defence to allow Brisbsne to score some easy tries.

In this game they had mental lapses that allowed Souths to score some soft tries.

      There was no improvement

Look at Brisbane they saw that they had defensive issues and were considerably better against the cowboys

Brisbane may have a better roster than Parra and Souths & the Cowboys are different teams but that isn't the point.

The point is there were the same mistakes made by the same players even though BA made it clear they needed to improve this week.

If it happens again the likes Smith, Cronk abd Slater will have a firld day.
