I'm reposting some of this in a new Blog.
After reading a lot of recent posts on here, it got me wondering, as a fan who to blame for our year. I know I'm fed up with wooden spoon performances.
I think Arthurs main problem is the players that he put his trust and loyalty into.
Like seriously for the entire 2018 season !!
5/8 Corey Norman - 4 tries and 10 line break assists for a bloody 5/8 that calls for the ball every couple of minutes. Shocking stats.
Fullback/wing Bevan French - 1000m running for the year, 7 tries , 34 missed tackles and 50 ragdolls over the sideline.
Hooker Cameron King - 0 tries, 0 offloads, 0 line breaks, 0 try assists, average kicking metres 10m. wow what a star. (previous Australian School Boys Captain)
Centre Michael Jennings - 1 try assist, 5 line breaks, 54 missed tackles, for an attacking centre "PLEASE"
Brad Takarangi - 1 line break, 1 try."YEP THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES"
Timmy Mannah - average 8 Hitups per game "mmmmm long time servant but maybe had his day me thinks"
I think some of our players are taking the money under false pretences and are the struggling ones. To me Ive seen Brad prepare some good attacks and good defences over the years, the players in previous years have performed well, but now, it aint right, and Arthur cant get on the field and make Timmy take more hitups, he cant make Corey Norman produce more line break assists, he cant hold Takas hand while he makes 1 line break for the year, he cant help Jennings miss more tackles. And Bevan, I just don't want to see him ragdolled in an eels jersey ever again,

The big question: has BA learnt his lesson? Will these players still be in the team next year? The answer will decide BA's fate.
Yeah very true, when your known as a coach that is very loyal, how do you sack "star players" that have performed badly.Damned if you do, Damned if you don't. He has to find a way though.
Both first the players for not trying then BA for not having the balls to sack players
Depends who is in charge of recruitment, at the end of the day it was a poor squad with a lot of one dimensional players.
Even if recruitment isn't in the control of Arthur I still put the responsibility on him to not get the best out of the players week in week out.
We lack quality and composure throughout the squad, not enough hole hitters who run good lines and not enough players that could beat a defender one on one.
Even the greats back in the day got dropped occasionally and usually came out better in the long run but young people now are likely to change clubs at first sign of being dropped.
Look at the difference of maturity with Latrell Mitchell after he was dropped last year and how it helped his development.
No doubt French would have benefitted from the same thisbyear to get confidence back particularly after his injury however with rumours he was unhappy BA failed to drop him so it is an issue in both parties.
yeah the salary cap plays it s part during the year when the coach wants to drop a plyer for whatever issue but cant due to injuries firstly then salary cap problems bringing up juniors etc. I think it puts a team back a year sometimes longer when they cant promote a junior going well say at Wenty etc. Then you end up losing their respect and then lose them to another club
I think a Football manager in the vein of a Gus Could, or Brian Smith, is now essential for an NRL team. Making long term decisions, plus being once removed from the coach. The coach can remain "Loyal" tp his playing roster and the Manager can sack/ trade bad performing players.
Perhaps put that hand in hand with the "No Dickhead" policy that Bellamy and Fittler subscribe to, and surely your better placed as a team.
The buck starts and stops at the front office and then works its way down!
