Brad Arthur Interview: The Breakfast Show

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

Here is the interview Brad Arthur had with the RadioTAB Breakfast Show on 9 February 2022. It doesn't tell us anything ground-breaking, or much more than we were already know, but it's a bookmark of Arthur's overall down-to-earth, upbeat and bullish thoughts on why it's a positive players leaving, how well the players are training, on the new 2022 rules, on the trials, and how excited he is about the Eels' chances in 2022.

Here is a summary of the timestamps:

01:26 On Players leaving: Arthur explains why it's a positive sign and there's a bit of "moneyball" idea coming into the equation.

"Everyone is looking at it as a negative on behalf of our club, but the really good clubs get their players taken off of them because they develop them. We got them at the bottom end of the pay scale, and they're leaving at the top end of the pay scale. So, you just can't keep everyone and I'm happy for the boys they've got their lives and their future sorted". (at 2:10)

04:35 On the New 2022 Rules: Arthur is neutral on the new trainers' rules for only being able to stop a game due to concussion. He's happy about the 40m rule for penalties believing they were "manipulated" and stopped attacking opportunities.

05:48 Forward Pass Technology: Arthur believes it's very difficult to make the right call on them live real time and hopes it leads to the right calls being made.

06:22 On Moses: Arthur defends Moses and the blame always contributed on halves and often not getting the credit they deserve - "they understand this" and "get paid well for it" - and is "super proud" of Moses for coming back from Origin and his "busted shoulder". He stood up in the big games in the finals noting he's matured from 18 months ago where he may have gone for "the big play" instead of the smarter one.

07:42 On Trials: Arthur talks about trials - noting the second "main" trial will be a "hit-out for round 1".

08:21 On Premiership Windows: Arthur notes he is not a fan of the notion of a "Premiership Window" and that the Eels are "as good a chance as anyone else". He explains that in some years you go in "with hope" whilst other you know you're a "genuine chance" like in 2022.

  • Excellent report Hoe.

I was rushing around doing something and what you did time stamping was not only brilliant but professional, cannot say enough about the great job your doing!

    • Thanks Poppa and Tad. Way too kind, gents.

  • thanks for that HOE.If anyone knows if the trials will be telecast please let us know

    • Meh ....positive spin

what else can he say really ?

    • I think all trial games will be televised on Fox.

      • Thanks Trajic I don't subscribe to Fox I was hoping maybe on YouTube.I think some games were televised last year on a NRL site

        • Change to alinta ebegy and get 12 months free Kayo.

  • On the players leaving he is right, it can be a good thing about how we develop players, the fans aren't happy about where a certain player is leaving to that's the issue ahahah

  • If Moses has truly matured, we are in with a genuine chance.

If Dylan Brown ups his game as well, we'd just about win the comp.

Personally, I want to see more consistency from Moses over a longer period before I'm convinced.

    • I think he has matured already Rupe, what I notice is when you watch a horse race and only focus on the "ride" of the jockey, you find lots of little errors and if something that he has tried didn't work.....well its a dissaster!....and that's the very best jockey's.

The same goes for a player like Moses when you are a Parra supporter, your focus is negative and positive on him because you watch so closely.....try watching a player like Reynolds, Cherry Evans and going back Cronk and even Thurston.....they all make/made mistakes but we because we don't support their teams we do not see the errors and the like, we just see the highlights....I saw Cronk have some shockers and Thurston missed tackles....Cherry Evans is hot and cold a creates the perception of Moses, but the reality is, he is a very good player.

How good would Moses be if he had a turbo to run off him.....at present he is expected to do the playmaking and the running as well..... LOl.....as long as your focus is "truly matured" he never actually will, given what you are looking for.

Perfection in anything is rare, other than the actual moment.
