Okay, what's with Cleary's bombs? And why can't others in the NRL kick the same? It's a weapon. It 1000% wins games. Moses kicks well but nothing threatening like those monsters. Even Souths fumbled a few leading to a try.. Blake was the victim last time. I'm sure if he plays they will bombing him like crazy. It will be raining missiles.
How do you stop it? It's one cleat advantage the Panthers have over us that we can't match.

It's had me curious as to why Moses simply kicks down the oppositions throat all year , bugger all chasers , bugger all effort to catch them. He has a huge boot but rarely puts a bomb up.
so to answer your question ,
I have no idea , hope this helps.
Very helpful. Thanks.:)
Moses can actually put those kicks in. Was at the training session and he was belting absolute torpedoes at Waqa Blake. I think he just goes the safe route and plays the end to end bomb/kick
Panthers have really mastered the exploit with blockers to give Cleary all the time in the world to launch his bombs. We've seen what happens (in Origin etc) when Cleary gets pressured on his kicks.
Agree Sloth. Let's hope one of our kick pressure runners falls over and the 'riff finally get penalised for this deliberate obstruction. If that happens early, Cleary will lose his shit.
Whilst the bombs are all the go because it is high risk to drop it and allows defence to get set, i think the grubber into space and skidder ball creates a lot of different stresses. When it is perfected , it is almost never just scooped up by a flying Slater. I have seen the Penriith wingers make a few errors with that type of kicking game. Dylan BROWN is so super reliable that he is a major threat anywhere. Less time he has with the ball the better I say.
Johnny Peard started all this 'Bombs' back in the 70's. So the Panthers shouldn't be allowed to use it. Best ways to deal with it are:
1) Practice catching high kicks.
2) If Blake struggles get someone else to catch them.
3) Chase the kicker in this case Cleary.
4) Try stop Cleary getting the ball on the last tackle.
5) Let the ball bounce.
The key is win the ruck play 4 slow play the ball less time to get the kick right.
Easier said then done
