Just wanted to give a big shout out to Bernie Gurr and the club for helping cheer up my mates young fella.
Young Kade is 8 years old and the poor kid has had a rough trot the last 4 months being in and out of hospital,
he was diagnosed with a infected femur and has had a few operations on it.
The poor kid spent majority of his school holidays in hospital and has been feeling a bit blue of late so I decided to see what I could do for him to cheer him up. I have to also thank Sir Col for his help in all this as if it wasn't for him this also wouldn't have happened. We both tried contacting the club and both got a response, I was able to organise a signed get well card from the whole team for Kade and he was stoked.....about a week or so later I got a message in my inbox from Sir Col who had just got off the phone to Bernie Gurr himself and wanted Kades address so he could organise to send him something special.
Just last week a Junior membership came through with a get well card signed by Nathan Cayless and Luke Burt!! Kade was so happy :) I haven't seen him smile so much in the last 4 months :) they also were told to let Parramatta know when he's feeling a bit better as they want to host him at a home game!!! He cant wait to sit with the players and watch the footy :)
So wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you to Sir Col, Bernie Gurr, Nathan Cayless, Luke Burt and the Parramatta Eels for organising all this for Kade.
It has definitely uplifted his spirits :)
Was very impressed that Bernie Gurr was so involved with it all as well
Have attached some photo's below.....first time doing it so not sure if its worked lol

Sir Col is a legend :) had the pleasure to have a chat with him on the phone while all this was being organised and he is a true gentlemen and one of the funniest blokes I've met LOL, cannot thank him enough for his part in organising all of this
It great when the club does these thing. These stories are the ones that the news never report on but have such a lasting impact on everyone involved. Im glad to here your mates little mans spirits have been lifted. I wish him a speedy recovery.
Kudos to the Eels!!!
Why don't you share this photo with DT or SMH? They often look for little bits to beef up their weekend columns and I wouldn't be surprised if it got a run.
Great stuff, and shows how this club shows their characters, that goes well beyond being RL players.
Awesome stuff Jimmy, well done to you, Bernie and all involved, i love seeing the club doing this stuff.
I already know I am a legend TeeHee however I was only an intermediary.
BUT
The REAL kudos have to go to the club.
1) Bernie Gurr for personally taking the time to get things fixed
2) Michael Bassan (Community Relations) for his efforts
3) The new attitudes and values being instilled within the club's ethos.
We can always find something to bytch about - but when you see the club moving forward in a such a positive manner after our decade(s) of pain and suffering you actually look forward to another bright sunny day.
jimmypop also was in there batting so don't forget his efforts either.
