Bevan French

As we all know Bevan French is parra's biggest prospect in a while. The signings of Michael Gordon & Kieran Moss means that Bevan won't be playing fullback until one gets injured in the NRL or NswCup. I think BA should put him in right wing next year all developing young fullbacks started their NRL career in that position for example RTS, Holmes & T.Trbojevic. So do you think he will be there come round 1 or playing another year in NYC.

  • I doubt he will play any NRL next year. He just doesn't have the physique of those three you have mentioned.

Also, we were all saying the same things about Matterson last year, so there's no guarantees.
  • French apparently had never picked up a weight until he got to parra. So hes body has to develop to a point before be plays first grade. But in saying that if hes that good he should be introduced for a couple of games during origin maybe. Luke Burt was fucken tiny when he got a start but then he put on some weight and became just small. But he was a goal kicker. And by allaccounts used to suck brian smith off. Young players need to be identified and introduced to first grade regularly. Twal was suiting up for 18th man a few times ive been told as well. And theres a young second rower who played junior origin for nsw but i dont know his name.
    • Size is an advantage in league but not an absolute must. Look at Brett Hodgson, tiny thin player but boy could he play the game well. Your comment about Burt and Smith is probably one of the dumbest most ill informed comments I've read hear for quite some time.

    • Nathan Merritt scored a lot of trys for someone who was thin
    • Nah Burt was shit mate. His best year was his last.
    • Criticise a players ability Nick, fair enough. The comment relating to Smith was a bit uncalled for.
    • Aye FME & Browny
I remember watching Burt in an U 20's grand final. He had scored the most points in that league. It was a record until Soward broke it i think. Burt was playing centre, wearing head gear, ( Brian Smith actually disallowed players wearing head gear in 1st grade as he believed it obstructed your vision) and he scored an 80 metre intercept try. Everyone was talking about him as the next big thing. Then he made first grade on the wing. I watched him closely for years. He regularly bombed trys, got rag dolled by other average opposition wingers and droped bombs. And if we played a good team they would direct everything down his side of the field. He was a confidence player as well so once he fucked up he would usually make a few errors. In his last two seasons he wasnt terrible but not a world beater either but by that time all the damage had been done. He was and still is a good club man but dont think for an instant that his agent had clubs knocking down his door asking for burt to play for them. He picked up multiple fairly lower end contracts with us. So when you indicate i'm uninformed on the topic youve got your head up your ass.
    • With regard to the Brian Smith comment im only saying for a reason that i and a lot of others dont understand burt was constantly persisted with. Keep your shirts on
    • Jesus language barrier. You two lawyers
    • Dont make the thread about the won liner. Keep it to footy.
