Great points you made Longfin in your second paragraph! Totally agree with you, pretty clear we can't attract big names maybe we have to focus on keeping our worthy juniors right now and build from there. Realistically build this year. We must do this now vip with so many new options looming! Ryley, Tuivati, Brown and others need securing now!
Buying big names with big TPAs (or even location attractions) is clear. Buying big names off limited cap dollars (as we seem to do), means no moula to keep up and comers... which right now we have a substantial number of great prospects (at last). They'll be firing next year or thereabouts and I feel this is how we are left to do it panthers style with a big core group who have played together...just need to focus on purchase of a couple of outside backs still... we don't seem to have at all. Time to raid the neighbours now! Bring them in now. Prepare for a window starting next year and further. It definitely ain't this year :(
Realistically, as you say big names don't often go to bottom half of comp in western suburbs, no beaches etc no huge TPAs and at least becoming consistent and a realistic chance of vying for premiership will improve greatly our chance of attracting few big names.
Longfin and Macy. Good points. Hard Yakka. Even Panthers-like premiership success won't necessarily mean we'll be recruiting a bevy of marquee players. Think of the last big name they signed, despite winning 4-straight titles. Instead they kept losing stars. There are only three ways to sign marquee talent.
Genuinely believe creating our stars from within is the only option we realistically have. Buiding towards that must start now! In a sense it's awful to admit but on other hand it's creating our own future, and keeping them aka early Penrith style.
Clearly the buying big stars in option ain't working for us :(
don't think we've had it as good with our youngins for years.
we definitely need to buy a coupla young promising outside backs in now.
💯 Macy but unfortunately we let 2 of those potential guys you mention walk.
We can't afford to let guys like that go.
We are nowhere near the Riff system and seemingly they have no problems producing what you mention and it's painful watching Talagi improve by the game in a team looking ready to make another charge at the premiership.
Meanwhile what he left we are still in the infancy of what Penrith were 8-9 years ago in the development build like you mention stakes.
I mean out of all of our development guys do we have a Casey Maclean type talent in any of our grades or that's been given a FG opportunity I struggle to see one.
Lorima Seuseu is like Makisini. Genuine freak. Only 16 years old but easily one that could debut at 18/19 years old in my opinion. I know it's a quiet prediction for someone so young.
Still hope for guys like Bloomfield (18) and Roksuka (19) to be good first graders as well
Well we have a host of forwards coming through probably why Ryles is desperate to get a big name forward to lead them as Paulo could call it quits this year we don't know.
That's a shame. I wasn't really sold on him due to his age unless he was replacing Junior or Hopgood for a year or 2 max but then this came up on my feed and he was smashing Nathan Brown.
It was when he was young but even when Brown played for us I thought he was a dickhead so good to see someone put 1 on his chin.
Glad we didn't get him because of his age and the money we offered but bloody hell it's the same old shit that no one with a name wants to come to parra.
What is it about our club. Even the Tigers got quality rep players accross the line. We cant even entice an aging ACL recovery prop at 32 for 2.6 M for 3 years...wtf is going on
"As long as we're competitive and don't lose by 50.for and against kills us at the latter part of season.but I think Brisbane will win I hope only by a couple of try's "

All it takes is one player to join and others follow. Luai went to Wests and others followed.
Foran was that for us in 2016.
