Backline for 2011?

With the recent signings of Hicks and Whatuira, I was just wondering where everyone fits into the squad?1) Hayne2) Burt3) Reddy4) Whatuira5) Hicks6) Mortimer7) RobsonI'm assuming that Hicks and Whatuira will be picked above Walker and Atkins because they have more 1st grade experience.Has anyone heard otherwise?

  • What about Tom humble on the wing. There has been 6 million posts
About next years team and not one of you has mentioned him!
    Have I missed something?
  • apparently walker is in really good form. i dont think he would be too far away from a starting wing spot

  • jjeel, I don't think you're missing anything, Humble seems like he has great potential from what I've seen. But he's not really a winger is he? He filled in for Hayne at fullback during Origin last season but I think he played five-eighth for Wenty. He is fast, but little. I don't know how he'd stack up against bigger wingers in today's game. I'd like to see him as a utility player, but I'm not sure how much we'll see of him in 2011 because players like McGuire and Mitchell might get higher priority. I say this because they're more specialised in the hooker role (assuming we'll have one starting hooker - I think Kearney will run Keating, and one hooker on the bench like Kingston used to be).

And what Matthew Kuruvilla said is what I've been hearing too. It sounds like Walker is in great shape and really fighting for a position in 2011.

Can someone also tell me if Reddy will be fit for round 1? That changes the lineup and gives more players a chance if he is not fit.
  • He is reddy

  • this exact topic has been blogged  many times already in the last 2-3 weeks!!!

  • Cheers, I hope Walker gets a run.
  • Yes but I was specifically asking about the impact of our roster with the recruitment of Hicks and Whatuira.

I see Keon's price as irrelevant (within reason), because he is an absolute no brainer for the Eels.

Paulo was fantastic last season, though, he’s fighting the clock & Keon is a perfect replacement longer term.

He seems to suit JR’s preference…"
