In comparison to last year, our block plays asked a lot more questions. Every side does, it just matters how well you execute and how you set up for them.
Cartwright's first try is a perfect example. Junior crashed the Bulldogs line so they pulled 4 defenders into the ruck. Moses is then sniffing around out the back so the outside Dogs defence rushes up and Salmon is too close to the ruck to pressure Cartwright. Lussick made the right decision and Cartwright scored untouched.
And a lot of the shape we threw had two players running unders lines, meaning our attack could straighten and force the inside defenders to slow. Last season we did none of that and regularly squeezed ourselves out of room.
I also think we'll be a little more clinical once Lane hits his straps.
Your point about Lussick is the main point to make about our hooker as well. We need a good decision maker at dummy half far more than we need a dangerous runner. Ideally you'd have a hooker with both qualities (like Harry Grant) but those guys are very expensive, and we have our cash tied up elsewhere in the pack and the spine.
I'd ask why he had Rankin taking up a spine position for 5 seasons and now that our 7 goes down, we have absolutely fk all in reserve grade to replace him.

"Dont think we need TDS as Walker can fill the roll his playing as can play lock, center, in the halves and fill in as dummy half if Smith needs a rest. I'd have Tuivaiti as the other bench player as he would allow another interchange to spell…"
"I think our club believes we have enough outside backs. There have been numerous outside backs available over the last 6 months or so and we havnt been linked to any of them."
"I would normally think like that too Fitzy, but I'm hearing he is really chasing a home like club so he can enjoy his footy. Nothing like having an old mate as coach to help with the environment.
'Josh Addo Carr credits the Eels/ Ryles for him…"

Or maybe...Do you see Matt as Employment Insurance, given he would probs follow you to a new club?
Not much I agree with you on but zero doubt that's the ploy.
So inside the 20 block play block play sweep to the winger any other plans?
Nah just chase the collision
Yeah I'll give that but we wanted alot of opportunities and it looked like they were going through the motions.
1st game
Moses with a niggle I'm happy with the win happy with the defence
If I was coach I'd still want more improvement
