Aussies time for change

Let’s hope big Mal follows Freddy Fittler’s example and does not pick Latrell Mitchell again. His discipline and commitment to the cause is non existent when against the highest quality opposition.
Cameron Munster and Cherry-Evans are two others that may struggle to retain their spots.
All that said you gotta love the heart shown by the Tongans, they rattled a very undisciplined Australian side.
MOM Mr Jennings.

    • Hard to argue that Slugg, thought Cotric was let down by his inside men.

        • Couldn't agree more.

  • Jennings was awesome. Was brutal in defence and looks to have added another element to his game in drawing in defenders and setting up his outside men

    • Yep

  • The Aussie forward need to take a good look in the mirror, only players that tried their ass off were Hass and Cordner.

DCE should have played he's last game for Australia.

    • Hahaha Mal isn't going no where and probably the first coach in 20 years to actually earn the position.  2nd of all be very surprised if Dce conitnues being the main half for Aus. Once again dce earned that position and was his to lose.

    • BEM, I hope DCE plays a few more games for QLD. Who are Qld going to replace him with ... Ben Hunt?

Next time there is an Australian side chosen the halves should have either Cleary or Moses at half and Keary at 5/8. Both DCE and Munster made crucial errors, some under pressure but also some unforced errors. Klemmer and Pappali were unimpressive last night, Vaughan was ok but Haas was by far the best of our props, I'm so glad he's a Blue as he'll be the first prop selected by NSW and Australia for the next decade. Mitchell is vulnerable in defence and had the ball dislodged when in possession and Cotric is not up to international standard yet.

If they punt Meninga I'll be happy because he is overrated as a coach. He is good at keeping a great team happy and playing for each other but a team he coaches only needs a few weak links and he fails. He had a very ordinary record when coaching Canberra.

Tonga was the much more committed and passionate side tonight and backed it up with some very disciplined defence (The Warriors should take leaf out of Tonga's book). I think they should be included in the top tier of international teams now but I suspect they might need a few more test victories over Australia, NZ and England before that is officially ratified.

Tonga's victory is the best thing to happen to international rugby league ever. With only 3 national teams ever being remotely competitive, you couldn't count France, it's great to see the Paific Island nations emerging on the international stage. Jason Taumololo deserves great credit for bucking the trend of Islander players choosing to play for New Zealand or Australia rather than represent their own national teams. It was an understandable thing for them to choose to play for the top tier teams but it has turned into an avalanche and it is fantastic for the future of rugby league.

      • It was just a great game of football. Brilliant atmosphere with a hyped up Tongan crowd. The Tongan defence was aggressive and resulted in some bad decision making. Credit to the Tongans. Menninger was fantastic as he was last week.

Watched the WC Rugby game straight after and it is now a tragically boring game.

  • I suspect they spent their time training at the Pub, thinking they were certanties.  That said, congratulations to Tonga!

  • Meninga will lose us the world cup. I thought this as soon as he was announced coach of Australia. He has not blooded any halves with potential. DCE is not a rep player and never has been. Munster is a good individual player but cant set anything up or manage a game. Meninga held onto his Qld greats for far too long before trying to blood players
