Guys, seriously, these Watmough blogs to go with jibes, no confidence, etc. are getting old.
For the umpteenth time, this is the first time in about 3-4 years that Watmough is playing injury free and niggle free. Our medical staff - some of the finest in the NRL - have been working tirelessly with him since basically early October to get his health right, to get rid of any niggles and have him primed for Rd 1 to be 100%.
By his own admission, he was underdone the last few years and carried the niggles because they were just that, minor. And so, as a result of that, the Manly medical staff - who are also very good at their jobs - didn't feel like surgery was necessary.
Upon his move to us, we thought the same and the injuries he had were manageable. However, when Watmough injured himself and was thus ruled out for the year, he and our medical staff thought it best that he get a full bill of health, hence the numerous surgeries he had in his knee, shoulder & back (to my memory, it was those, or perhaps just 2).
Point being, Watmough is a crucial player for us but he won't be playing 80 minutes like so many believe he will.
Beau Scott will play the 80, though.
What aboutgordon is he fit ? And id love to know how out other new recruits are training!??
Funny you were all excited that Choc was coming over and just because he carried an injury and wasn't up to his best last year (IMO I thought he played rather well, depending on the day) now you want rid of him? Choc is a leader of the pack, him and Scotty will be an asset to the team. If Choc retires, I reckon he'll stick with Parra and become a coach for the forwards. That's my opinion and hope he doesn'[t retire,. not yet...
Monster one of your best footy posts ever.
His start to the year was disappointing he was trying to do too much and this saw him with a few errors next to his name and little metres gained. Later on when he essentially became a third prop his metres was much better, if he plays the same role this season as he did in the later part of 2015 then we'll be sweet in attack.
