Always needed more than 2 points

Parramatta had no ball at the beginning of the first 1/2. Missing the shot from almost in front was unfortunate but the decision to kick at goal was dumb. Even if he kicked it we gave away momentum. We needed 6 points at that stage and the side would have lifted. Would love to know who made that call. The side who maintains momentum wins the game.

  • I agree it was a terrible decision.

  • It was the right call at the time. It would have levelled the scores and given us the ball back at a time when momentum was with our boys. It just ended spectacularly bad for us.

  • Agree. In the six again game there are few grinding out a win games you need to score trys. Should of kept the presure on, Souths were gased.

  • No the problem was he didn't stand the ball up LACES OUT!

  • Totally agree and said the same at the time to anyone who would listen to me. Cook should have been binned it was blatant but regardless we had all the momentum. Why kick for 2 to level and then put pressure on ourselves in our red zone after having no ball. We had to score or keep them down there for a few repeats. But this is parra we follow bad decision in multiples, take the two, miss the kick, don't clean up the ball, gutho spills it directly to Sironen, you couldn't script that 🤦‍♂️

  • And if we lost 20 to 18 what would you be saying today? It was the correct decision

    • 20 all is not a win either and there was still 30 minutes to go. Souths would have always scored again we needed to more than match them.

    • I'd be saying damn we should have taken the 2 lol. The point was more about momentum, we didn't have any and Souths were happy when we said we will take the 2. We were all over them hence why cook gave away the penalty. Anyway doesn't matter now we weeent meant to win sadly

  • Souths also knew they needed more than 2 points when they took the 2 to lead 2-0. It was more a case of Let get bask to even keel & go from there.honestly believe if we kicked that goal we would have won. We were just starting to get back on top in the fowards at pretty much the same Time we were starting to get on top in the first half. Anyway we will never know if that 8 point turnaround would have won us the game if he kicked it

    • I was more than happy when they took the 2. It meant we could stay in touch an led at 1/2 time

100% you are on the money, Ryles has said that from day 1. For me, the tell is Jim making a point of it being known it is 'Ryles' decision' and not a 'club decision'.
